I haven't visited ning creators for a while...
Anyway I just want to know if anyone knows why when I try to post an embeded code which supposed to allow full screen NINg doesn't allow it and change the embed code insted...
for example: "param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"
this will change and will become param name="allowfullscreen" value="false"
so are we not allowed to post videos from youtube or other sites and make it a full screen?
Thanks

Anyway, It won't affect ning's bandwidth because it is an embed from another site like youtube... check the video below we are not able to click to make it into fullscreen
so even if the embed code has this
"param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"this will change and will become param name="allowfullscreen" value="false"... so ning changed the code automatically? or i just want to know why did they disable fulscreen from other sites?
I am just asking because my members would like to be able to click on the fullscreen button and make the video larger.

Permalink Reply by Crossoverprofiles on March 28, 2011 at 7:01pm Hi,
I just tried a random selection of four different Youtube embedded videos and they all expanded to full screen. I have a PLUS plan. Looking at the code: ".....value="true" is in place. I did not change anything in the code; simply inserted it. I don't have an answer just another experience-different.

so is it only me or my network that this is happening? because even when I post an embed in the forum the code changes value="false" . I also have a plus plan ...
anyway thanks for your reply

Permalink Reply by Crossoverprofiles on March 28, 2011 at 8:26pm I'm the one who misunderstood it appears. 'Post' was undefined so I decided to see what was allowed and where. This is what I experience:
1. posting in video module: allows fullscreen
2. posting in text box on: main page , my page, another created page: all allow full screen
3. Posting in comment box in discussion, blogs, photos, member pages: full screen not allowed.
4. Posting in comment box on video page: full screen allowed.
Why it is not allowed in #3 is an answer I don't have. Seems to be arbitrary. I have an 3rd party update module on my front page from Ayub that allows you to post Youtube videos and it allows full screen. Hopefully they have a reason for this function (non-function).

what i am gathering, is, that crossoverprofiles wants it to be full screen by default when you go to the page the video is embedded on, and/or when viewers click play, i could be wrong here in thinking this. I don't think a default full screen view is possible, but it is a choice that the viewer can make.
Permalink Reply by Crossoverprofiles on March 28, 2011 at 9:03pm David,
no its not a default... just like when you are in youtube or anysite there is just like your printscreen (circle above your first post ) there is something that members can click and make that video full screen but in my site this is unabled so if they want to view it as is then they can view it with the small size but when they click on that button then it will be full screen.
So again I am not saying that it is a default full screen... you get me now.
sorry if I am confusing you.
Hi David,
All that I checked and posted in previous list of places and actions are with videos that I have not changed any code. In other words exactly as the embed code given. In number 3 the code is changed apparently automatically but in the others that does not happen.
