Have you ever wished you had a phone number you could dedicate to your network, business, friends, even to use to verify your Facebook account when they ask (they ask when you try to link your network to your Facebook fan page and/or app)?

GUESS WHAT? YOU CAN! check out Google Voice! It's pretty cool, too. you can get any U.S.A. area code, and you can even work in a custom phone number (like 555-TOO-COOL). I have had mine since they first started it a year or so ago, but, in reading a couple posts regarding Facebook integration, app creating, etc, I was reminded of having to verify your Facebook acct via a text message or a credit card number (DO NOT EVER GIVE CC NUMBER TO FACEBOOK! EVER!). You can have the verification text sent to your GOOGLE NUMBER as a text. It will show up in your Google Voice inbox online, just like an email would. There are many things you can do with it too, you can turn forwarding to your phone on and off, set custom messages for callers, call screening, you can call out thru it from your phone or even your computer too. This is great if you need to call someone, but do not want them having your private landline or cell numbers. Best of all, it is TOTALLY FREE for all calls inside the USA. you CAN pay for international long distance by loading money onto the account  if needed as well. It's a really cool tool, go check it out!

ok.......there are NC's out here who live in the US though, and I pretty much pointed out in the parent post it's for U.S. area codes. As it may not work for you being in Canada, it's a great solution for NC's in the USA!
This post by Seymor54 is an absolute AWESOME idea for a Google Voice number! Here's what you can do with this.....set up a profile question, telling people to call your number for the code to enter as the answer. Go to the Google Voice, record the answer you want entered (turn the tool off from ringing your phone at all, make it go straight to the message with the answer for the profile question) and VOILA! SPAMMERS WILL LIKELY NOT CALL THE NUMBER!!!!
this is the best spam fighting idea I've ever heard of! Thank Seymor54 for that one!
