I will be implementing this over the next couple of days and thought I would share this with you guys.
I have a specific Google Voice number that I got for my website. I will use this dedicated number to let my members post or reply to questions. If the question is good or the replies are good I will add them as a post and add them to the podcast. You can post a question on a blog and have people respond by audio by calling your Google Voice number. You can even embed the voicemail into the post and let others listen to your member responses.
Another cool feature is the that Google voice actually translates the messages so you can even copy and past responses ( replies ) as text as well.
This can help get your site going and letting people really get involved.
Some ideas:
Post a poll and have members call in their responses.
Send people you would like to interview an email with questions and have them reply via your Google Voice and upload the interview to your Podcast.
Let members post questions that you can make into blog posts or discussions.
There are a lot of possibilties with this. Enjoy!
I will let you know when I have mine up and running.

Permalink Reply by Patrick Chappelle on April 17, 2012 at 10:48am Interesting indeed. However, I would caution against the speech to text idea. I've experienced hilarious results with this particular GV function.

Wassssssssssss up Frankie,
We've been podcasting for over four years now and we've used Google Voice as our voicemail service for our show. Google Voice is a good free service for podcaster to have their listeners to be part of their show.
I give Google Voice a: A+
Check it out on our home page www.myndn.net and tell me what you think.

Folks are invited to call my Google Talk number. I'll post their replies to this audio blog. Thanks for sharing this idea. I'm excited to see how it works.
Cheers, Nate
Permalink Reply by Rev. Nate Walker on April 21, 2012 at 10:39am Blog Talk Radio is also a fantastic audio blogging platform, complete with the ability for callers to join your live show. Here's a sample: http://www.philauu.org/page/uu-talk-radio

Permalink Reply by Patrick Chappelle on April 21, 2012 at 7:42pm BTR is great, but if you intend to do any real broadcasting, you're going to have to pay. They dropped the free model a long time ago.
If anyone's interested, you may find this useful.

me too...very interesting...good idea
FYI this service can only be used in the US at the moment. If anyone knows of an international service, please let me know.
Thanks
