Ning is changing so much I'm not sure if I can keep up lol. The old Ning seem to be a little bit easier for me to use as far as getting new members to join my website. But now I am having a hard time getting new members. I use to be able to invited all my friends on my friends list on different networks but now with this new Ning I am unable to do that. I use to be able to recruit new members by searching on other networks and adding them as a friend then later on inviting them to join my network. But this system does not seem to work with the new Ning. When I click on invited friends it only give me the friends on my own network not all the friends I have on my friends list that I recruited. So my question is... could you (anyone) tell me how I can recruit new members to my network? Thank you
Karen

Hi Karen,

thank you for raising this question, because what you are describing is exactly the reason why Ning.com stoped this function.

There are many network creators with ning networks, who work hard to get new members from "outside" and they were protesting agains that function - right they were! Go to the market and scream as all the other do, so you will find new members and do not just take them from other networks. Good luck!

Cheers,
Toni
I believe there are enough members to go around. I personally don't mind if other networks recruit on my network as long as I can do the same with there network. I always here about Ning is a family and we need to learn and share from each other. Get resouces from one another. I just don't see that happening any more.
Hi Karen, I agree with Toni. I'm extremely happy Ning did away with that function and it's just like Toni said, there were a great many of us who PAID ad agencies, made flyers for our communities to pass around, written press releases, became best friends with the media, both local newspapers and radio to recruit our members, not take from someone who's already footed the cost of obtaining their members. Ning just listened to us and made the playing field even for us all. If you want members, you're going to have to work for it like the rest of us did.

Good luck to you!

I am new to Ning, but this does make sense. I am glad that Ning has added this feature so our efforts are protected.
This is a nice step taken by NING, if we are working hard, then our efforts should be protected.
I am very happy they did away with this. Before people like Karen would go join networks and add friends at each one with the intention of inviting them to their own personal network.

If you create a nice network that serves a purpose, you will get members.
You might want to try a similar technique, but on websites other than Ning.com. And rather than waiting to get email addresses, contribute to communities or websites with a similar focus as yours and link back to your network. People who value your opinion will click through and potentially join.
Have good content on your site, give your potential users something they want, bring the traffic and make your network private so visitors could see only home page.

Using this I got 1700 new members this weekend
WELL I HAVE TO AGREE WITH EVERYBODY .I SPEND HOURS TRYING TO RECRUIT MEMBERS TO MY NETWORK,FROM OTHER MAJOR SOCIAL NETWORKS..LIKE M SPACE,AND TGGD,.SO YES NING DID A REALLY GREAT THING BY ELIMINATING THAT
