Hello-

I am unable to embed javascript on a custom page (an RSS widget) - hitting save removes the code. (The code was already there, I was just updating a banner above the code.)

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://feed.informer.com/widgets/119QMPXTDB.js"></script>
<noscript><a href="http://feed.informer.com/widgets/119QMPXTDB.html">"Techcomm Superfeed"</a>
Powered by <a href="http://feed.informer.com/">RSS Feed Informer</a></noscript>

Anyone else seeing this? I've tried other widgets from other sources, and I've tried making the change in Chrome, IE, and Firefox. Ning simply removes that entire text when saving.

And that's a revenue-generating page for me. :(

  • Hi Arnold,

This issue has been already reported to the engineering team.

We have gone ahead and added your network that you have on file and the email that has been used to created the network to the report.

As soon as the issue will be resolved we will contact you back via email.

    Apologies for the inconveniences.

    Best regards,

    Ning Team.

    • Thank you!

    • Ning Team! For Gods sake!!!. THIS IS INCREDIBLY SERIOUS FOR US!! We have no Booking Form now ALL of our custom code has been removed from our secure Worldpay credit card payment page:  www.spiritofremembrance.com/page/payments and furthermore on updating our Client Booking Page:  www.spiritofremembrance.com/page/booking-form it now won't accept our custom HTML code!!! This is INCREDIBLY SERIOUS as not only cannot our clients book our tours they also cannot pay for them!!!!  Spent 10 minutes calling NING listening to awful canned music (calling from UK!!) and then gave up and sent you a ticket. With an average tour cost of around $2,000 US per person this will put us out of business in days. FIX IT NOW!!!!!!!!!

      • Just my opinion Graeme, but if you are investing/making that kind of money through your site, I would think you'd want more control and a more professional arrangement. You would do well to have a site that you fully control and can backup your own content, have access to the content on your server, use scripts and plugins as you please.

Don't get me wrong- using ning is fine for non-critical kinds of sites, but I don't see it as a professional option- for years now it's been unstable, outdated, and unreliable. It's always one problem after another. This seems unlikely to change to the degree that's needed for some folks.  I'd suggest you get building via some other option that will be more secure that you can control and keep updated.  Look into the better options out there: comparing some platforms

If you feel you really have to leave ning, imho the most reliable choices for a network platform or interactive info site you can really control and own are Wordpress, Jamroom, and SocialEnginePHP.  SocialE is by far the most expensive though.  The others are either comparable or lower cost than Ning, and offer a huge range of available plugins/features.  Jamroom is regarded as having the best hands-on support of the three. Wordpress may be the cheapest. Most importantly though- you would finally have control over your site and your content.

Truly owning your own site is never as easy as a click of a button, but you'd be surprised at what you can get done in a few days or weeks once you put your mind to it.  cheers

        • George, Agree. Ours is a business that grew like topsy and we are working hard now toset up our own hosted site on a world respected platform. Just needed or Ning site to keep going for a few more weeks. Anyway think we have a work around. I pity the poor people that have brought this shower of s...t as it is so sad - from what it was under Gina and Marc. RIP NING!

  • Hi Ho!! This has just happened to us too!! ALL of our custom code has been removed from our secure Worldpay credit card payment page:  www.spiritofremembrance.com/page/payments and furthermore on updating our Client Booking Page:  www.spiritofremembrance.com/page/booking-form it now won't accept our custom HTML code!!! This is INCREDIBLY SERIOUS as not only cannot our clients book our tours they also cannot pay for them!!!!  Spent 10 minutes calling NING listening to awful canned music (calling from UK!!) and then gave up and sent them a ticket. Have you had any joy with this as if we cannot get a fix by tomorrow we wil lhave to abandon NING and move to another platform - it is that serious!!! NOT NOT NOT HAPPY!!!

  • This is happening to our site as well. We cannot include any code in text boxes, on pages, or in ad spaces. It gets stripped out as soon as it's saved.
