I was wondering if anyone had a way to hide the latest activity in the profile section but leave the action in the main stream that shows up on the main page.

I ask this because seeing the length of everyones activity on my site profiles have become a sour eye for me and I want to fix this element.

If you have an idea please help.

yeah, it is ugly, isn't it? it is for this reason when i join another ning network, i set my activity view to zero. the best you can do is ask members to do the same, or set it to a lower number. explain to them the benefits of doing so, namely saving visitors the hassle of wading through countless meaningless items to find relevant content.
This is a good answer but that would mean I would have 2 options.

1. Send an email blast every 6 months or so to inform the new members so they would get the gist.

2. Dedicate a page on the site to profile development and hope members read it.

these are not horrible options but I was hoping I can find a way to set the automatic new member profile to "0" or hide it all together.

Thanks,

Thunder, Thunder, Thunder HOOOOOOOO!!!!
lol! funny.

sorry i didn't have better answer for you. our "manage" area will be changing tuesday, maybe there will be a way to disable this function. as a ning beta tester, i have the new dashboard, but i don't see anything there. that could change, and it would be nice if ning could do this.

still looking to change this horrible eyesore on my site.

Any one with css help on this?

I believe this should work, but didn't test it much. Since it's your profile pages, you'll need to add the CSS to your Custom Code box (not Advanced CSS), to override their custom themes.

Add to My Network/Tools/Custom Code

Be sure to wrap in a style tag like this:

<style>

.xg_widget_profiles .xg_module_activity {display:none!important;}
.xg_widget_profiles .xg_module_activity div.xg_module_head h2 {display:none!important;}

</style>

Please let us know if this works properly.

Best,

Jen

I want to thank you soo much. This has been nothing but an eyesore since I started NING. I am sure others will be able to benefit from this code also. As I am sure I was not the only one.

And thats why we LOOOVVVE Ning Creators. People helping people.

Great! And you are very welcome.

Best,

Jen

That's because the Custom Code box is loaded last. You can also add the CSS to Advanced CSS, and it will remove it quicker. However, for some profile pages it will hesitate like you are seeing now. In the past the Advanced CSS typically overrode member profile page themes. But now since so many theme sites went crazy with !important, we often have to override via the Custom Code Box. So, the safest bet is the latter. But it's fine to add to both places.

Hope that makes sense.

Best,

Jen

Never got to use this before shutting down my old network, came in handy today. Thanks Jen!

I would like to thank the Alliance and his mere Genious for requesting this code. Keep up the good work.

This will be the first time I've ever thanked anyone for asking a question here, but Thanks dude.

I tried this code on my test site, works in hiding the activity.  What if I just want t put it under the profile information???
