Hide nav until mouseover?

Hello Creators, I have an idea, and I wonder if it would be possible.

Is it possible to have all of my main navigation tabs/subtabs under a little centered button labelled "Navigation." When you put your mouse over the button, the nav bars slide out, and remain as long as your mouse is within the tab menus.

Is this possible? Can anyone help out?

(looking to clean up my site, been told it's very messy.)

 animated gif  for my discussion.  if the animation is not working right click and open it in a new tab to get a better view.

first I used AVS Video screen capture. Then I converted it to a .gif using Jasc Animation Shop 3

I am new to the Ning Network...I just tried this code..and love it..is there any way that I could further customize the blue "Ning Navigation Menu" image to my own?? and play around w/the colors of the menu??
