How do you create a full administrator who doesn't have access to the group forums?

Hi Everyone,

I was hoping that someone might have a bit of knowledge / skill in changing the settings of what an administrator is able to access in the ning site that they might be able to share with me.  I have searched around quite a bit to no avail. 

First, a bit of background.

Basically, our ning community needs to be set up in a way where some of our “groups” section has privacy, even from some of the administrators who manage the rest of the site.  One central administrator should have access to everything (i.e. the creator – me), but I need to create “sub-administrators” who have access to everything but the content within the groups (this content needs to be private to non-group members). 

The closest solution that I have found is the "manage roles" section in the “manage” bar.  I have created a new role where I gave everything but access to groups to the “sub-administrators”.  However, when I applied this to the “sub-administrator” members, they were shut out of several of the managing features, including changing the features on the main page and several of the options within the “manage” bar.  In addition, these sub-administrators weren’t able to edit content in groups where they had been set to “group administrator” (and where they should still have access).

So my question: is there any way to create administrators who have limited access to certain groups, but full administrator level access to everything else on the ning community?

So I am taking it that no one else has found a "work-around" for this? Would this be a better post for the suggestions for ning forum (i.e. to add more group privacy options to the site)?

you have to be patient in waiting for an answer here, ben. there is no "work-around". I am admin at a number of networks, and somewhere along the line, admin privileges were limited. i used to be able to do more, and it is unfortunate that ning decided to make these changes. i would hope that ning would make it an option in the future, however.

Also really good to know that at one time administrators did have full access to managing the account. Perhaps ning will bring that back?
