We're at 5,130 right now, was started 9/08. The past year and a half, membership has been raising fast.

We were 10,000 in six months. We are now 27,495 in a little over two years. I deliberately slowed down membership since over a year ago to control scammers and spammers. I no longer approve everyone that applies for membership.

Antavius, I got no secret. I started by using adwords to make the site known. Then members started to invite their friends.

1500 and growing at an average of 12 per week, up to 35 when I ran a comp where all new members were in the running to win. 25 per week over summer... It's a cycling site.
I think it's not so much how many members but how engaged. I see 25000 members but there are only 2 comments per post. Mine has up to 100 comments quite often. I think the secret is being ultra local. We meet in real life too.
