How to add a url in a comment without it becoming a link?

All I wanted to do was show an example url to someone in a comment to a discussion and it gets turned into a link in the HTML.

I removed the link tag but the editor keeps restoring it.

So how can I simply show a url in a comment without it becoming a link?

I don't think that's possible.  Huh.

I tried putting the link in using the Plain Text button, but when you click "Add Reply" it automatically converts that PLAIN TEXT (hello???) to a live link.

Glitch...

Yep, I think a glitch. Even editing the link and removing the URL doesn't work.

I gave an example of a domain with a heap of 'z' but it actually resolved to a real domain. Then I tried others with just 'z' and I was up to 12 'z' and they are all real domains. Then I tried 15 and 20 and still real domains. Not sure why you would but someone thinks a domain made up of 20 'z' is a good thing.

Curious, I tried the whole alphabet, all 25 characters, and it is a real domain.

Makes you wonder just how much money is invested in these sorts of domain names, and why.

Let's see. I usually use this method on Facebook: www[dot]kingdomzx[dot]com

Hi Patrick

Thought of doing that but some simply copy that and don't replace the [dot], believe it or not. But then come copy the example url as well. !!??

But I expected that if I edit the link and remove the url then it would save it, but apparently when you save the change it simply puts it back. SIL

Well then....

Sometimes works to not space after, so the hyperlink doesn't get activated, and then save. Couldn't duplicate here though I've done this on my site.

Hi Jeff, if it's a case of people clicking the link and going elsewhere you could use the same link but redirect it back to the same page that your on.. this is just for demonstration purposes..i hope i'm on the right track as i'm not sure how to dispay a perfect link that does not link.

This is the link page we are on http://creators.ning.com/forum/topics/how-to-add-a-url-without-it-b...
