I have built this animated slideshow for a Ning website's header:
http://www.jeremyschultz.com/client/envest/cycle/
It's made of HTML and images, and the animation is powered by typical JS and jQuery.
I see where to add the JS in the Custom Code window, but the dashboard only allows an image for the header region. Is there a way to edit the underlying template and add my HTML, or another way to have more control over the header?

It's a custom job which takes time to implement.

Ning has a HIre a Creator Group. Probably one of them can take care of your custom job.
Permalink Reply by Jeremy Schultz on July 9, 2012 at 5:33am I'm unclear what kind of work this would be—I can't tell if there is a way within Ning to reconfigure your template, like there is in WordPress. If there isn't, and this requires HTML manipulation with JS/jQuery, then I can do that myself. I didn't see any information on templating within Ning, so I don't know which is the case.

Well Jeremy, your slide show template is ok and ready to use and also you know where to use it. But you don't have any idea how to use it in specific area right? That's why I suggest you to post topic in Hire a Creator group. Probably one of them can help you out.

put it in an ad box either below or above the header and then play around with the css for which ever you choose.
Permalink Reply by Jeremy Schultz on July 10, 2012 at 5:22am Thanks SweetPotato, the ad box was able to take my HTML. I had to revise my code to target the right elements (Ning adds extra things to these ad boxes) but it works good.
I'm curious why it seemed like the ad box was visible only to members—but only for awhile. For maybe 20 minutes, the ad box would not show when I was logged out. It also ignored my CSS hiding the existing masthead. I added a script to force it, and then it worked, but then I removed the script and it still worked. I don't see documentation on whether or not ad boxes are supposed to be for members only.
