How to add articles?

Hi all,

I'm wondering how to provide an articles section on my network. I mean a section where members can add scientific articles that they find interesting.

Not the ones they write. For that they use their personal blog, on Ning.

I mean articles written by others, that we want to share. The "Notes" option, is not good, because notes can only be added by administrator, not by all members. Do you have some ideas about how to that on NING? How do you do this on your network?

Use Blog posts and change Blog Posts to Articles in Language Editor

Why couldn't you use the blog function and just make sure that they tag all the articles as "articles". Then you simply click on the tag and link to it.

What about pages? Anybody use this to add articles?

I've had to resort to using /pages for news articles....they work ok!!  The blippin' character limits for posts have caused multitudes of issues so I had little choice but to migrate to the /page option.  There MUST be a better way!!!!

I used pages to add articles but you or you admins will be the only who could do that like already said by all. I have stop adding articles cos it is too much time and most writer wont allow you to copy all their articles and implement it on your site unless you rewrite it. When i spoke with most writers that interested me, i was told to put not more than half of their content and then link back to their sites / blogs. Otherwise it is copyright infringement. I though about it, that would be working a lot a not getting the whole reward so i stopped it.

If you want to have a panel where your members can add articles if the writers permits you, then you might think about developing a panel. I just did something like that, but in this case it is about audio, so everyone can upload a track not on their profile, but on a stand alone player hosted in my server. First  i wanted to integrate it completely into my network but that would mean not getting support from Ning cos it is a foreign scripting.

So what i did is to let it be developed as stand alone on my server, so hosting it their and then just iframe it on my network. So right now we are finished and am just testing it a whole month b4 i introduce it to my members.

It cost a bit but not a fortune like most people think, or am just lucky and found this couple who are IT specialists from India and they do such tasks economically priced. If you really need it bad i could make the connection and you might not believe the price, only you have to have a server or you let it into you Ning and quite the support, what i would not recommend.

If you are interested in infos, pvt me and i will give you the link to see the panel they developed, so Music was harder, for articles it is just a text editor thing and some triggers. I can also give Patrick Chappelle the link if he wanna cos he is one of the people i trust here.

That sound great, Stygo. I would like to develop job feature in my Ning site. The function of this feature is that member can post a job follow by a form. If you know anyone can help me integrate this feature in my site and hosted in my Ning site (I do not want it run on other server!), please let me know. Thank you so much for your information.
