Greeting everyone,

I run a site called HODINFO  I have many members from other countries and have been looking for a good translation service that will continue to translate between pages of my site. Attached is the code required to make this happen. All you have to do is put a text box on the right side of your network so that it will appear on all pages. Then click the attachment below called googletranslate.txt right click and view source then copy and paste the code into that text box via the html section and hit save. Viola you now have google translate on your network.

 Update 06/26/2012 just use the code between the lines.

-------------------------------------------------------

<div id="google_translate_element"></div>
<script type="text/javascript">
function googleTranslateElementInit() {
new google.translate.TranslateElement({
pageLanguage: 'en'
}, 'google_translate_element');
}
</script><script src="http://translate.google.com/translate_a/element.js?cb=googleTranslateElementInit" type="text/javascript">
</script>

Put it on the right side of your network.
Thanks, it works
It is on the right side, but it only appears on the main page. I'm using an older Ning template. Do I have to switch to one of the new ones?
I can also see the translator on my front page - but not on the rest.  It is on the right side underneath the username box - i embedded the translator in a text box on the right hand side.  Is this the right approach and if so - could you suggest a fix?

Hi Julie,

Did you place it in the green shaded area of that column? Here's a snip of my layout. The green area will expand to fit everything you want to place on every page.

James

Thanks - that didn't seem to be an option when I was using the old template but now that I have upgraded it works - I am delighted :)  Thanks so much.

 Hi Julie,

I'm glad I could point this out to you. Actually I'm still using the 'classic' editor so you may of just missed putting it in the 'green' column. But that doesn't matter because it's working now!

Good luck,

James

Hi Gabet, I've tried endless times to do what you suggested in your email with no results. It doesn't work on my ning site. What can I do????????????????????????????????????
Cheers
Beatriz

Hi Beatriz,

Go to this site from Google and follow the steps (step 3 gives you some choices on the look and size that you might like) place the code they generate for you in a text box in the right hand column in the green shaded area if you want it to show on all pages. What exactly happens when you try to to insert code? ...oh, be sure you are in html mode when you place it, then save.

James

Thousand thanks James, it was dead easy to do it following your link although the quality of the translation (being myself a translator) is still not as good as to fear computers overtaking human skills (at least in that field!!!!!!!!!!!!). It was extremely helpul, thanks again.

Beatriz

Thanks Psyford for your interest in helping me with this translation business.

Beatriz

I did end up nixing the Translator as many of my European members claimed it was a nuisance and messed with the way they see their pages.
