In my Ning site, we are trying to steer all content into the forum. It was frustrating that Ning doesn't offer a clean way to do this.
The most obvious problem was the "Add Blog" link that's in the "Add Content" popup on the homepage. In fact just now a new user - one of the most prestigious investors in my city - created a blog post on my new site, and I had to ask him to repost it in the forums. (booooo)
But, I think I figured it out. To get rid of the "Add Blog Post" button in the homepage popup, try adding this custom CSS -
.xg_sprite-blog { display:none; }
Let me know if that works for you. Cheers!

.xg_profiles_settings_email_show { display:none !important; }
That might make it kick in. Good luck!

Permalink Reply by Sandy Henson Corso on March 17, 2012 at 5:53am does anyone know how to hide just the words "blog post" in latest activity next to the share button??? Please help!
Dylan, thanks! This was exactly what I was looking for.
Because I'm limiting blogposting to paid members, I'm keeping the blog feature enabled but removing all references to "add a blog post" everywhere I can find it. I'm then going to hid the link behind a paywall that people in the paid member category can get to. It ought to work!
Problem is I'm still needing to remove it in a few more places.
1. I'm with Sandy: anyone know how to hide "blog post" from the Share box in the Latest Activity module on the profile page?
2. Anybody know how to remove the "Add blog post" from the blog page? (Can't get any more ironic than that!)
With those I should be golden.
