How to create a full width header

I want to get a full width white background in my header at http://devclub.ning.com/.  I've searched on Ning Creators and saw some topics which explained how to get a full width header on your Ning network. But the code didn't work for me. 

Tried this code:

.xg_theme #xg_head {

background: white none no-repeat scroll 0 0;

border-width: ;

border-style: none;

border-color: transparent;}

Does someone know the answer? Thanks in advance!

width: 1500px;
}

Hey Bernard thanks for the tip but I need something straightened out.

I've been fighting with this for a while and can't seem to figure it out. How do I get a 1500px header with everything properly aligned? See the screen shots below.

I need the body of the site to be aligned with the tabs and my header. Is there something else I need to do, like adding a background to the header section?

Change it to width:100%; instead of 1500px;

you've got to decide how many px to the left.

Sorry for the late reply..well, it depends on theme also. Some themes don't allow you to widen header.

I'm sure "FLASHING LIGHTS" theme can help you to figure it out.
