Hi,

Is there an easy way to find other networks to join? It seems like Ning would have a list of the networks or some sort of database where users can search and find networks. I created networks, but I'm looking to join other networks and I don't know where to look.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks so much!

There is The Ning directory but from now on all Ning social networkcreators can join NINGSHOUTS. It's 'twitter-style' microblogging community just for NING networcreators. The website is just for NING website owners, so, a big chance to find COOL ning social networks in the member list.

The site is still brandnew so give it some time to grow in members. You are free to join and have a big chance to be found.

Tweet about yourself and your own ning social network amongst other network creators, add them as 'followers', this is a wonderful way for you to promote your own ning social network and network with other networkcreators!

Is it: we have to expect daily (hourly?!?) updates about what's going on at your private DONT LIKE NING Network, hooked up to every new thread here in the future?

Puuh.

Well, do you see it hooked up to each thread????

I know how to respect rules of a network just like i want people to respect the rules to my network.

I have been contacted bout this by Phil Mclusky, i dont believe you are the NING-police, are you?
Ning.com had a good search feature where you were able to get a diverse list of sites that you were interested in, but they replaced it with the "discover ning" search box. A lot of people are having issues with this search and are not happy with it. I looked at the Ning.com directory that you spoke about, and it really needs a lot of help. Ning.com was doing very well with upgrading its site...but, what is confusing a lot of people is Ning.com taking down its original search feature (which a lot of people were fine with) and replaced it with the very "odd" and strikingly limited "discover search". The answer I got from Ning.com was that they had huge problems with Spam...but, all social network creation sites have this problem..it is a fact of life. What I am seeing now, is that Ning.com has to compete on the same level of Facebook. Facebook has its own problems, but their site's search feature was even better and more organized and more functional than Ning.com's original search feature (which was a really good search feature). Ning.com is kind of the new kid on the block, but the "new" is wearing off fast now, and now it has to compete on the big stage..and if your search feature is looking like it is what Ning.com has now, even with the directory, then Ning.com is going to have problems, especially with all the changes Facebook is doing and the rise of other social network providers.

Hi Tamika!

I am sure there are a lot of ways to find other Ning networks :+) As for me, I went to my Ning profile on ning.com, typed a word or words (of what I am looking for) and Ning search gave several networks to visit. If you are looking for a list of Networks, I would suggest Ning Directory. Jen did a great job with this site.
Where's this search bar at on Ning? I can't seem to find it on Ning.com. Sorry if I'm just not seeing it! If your talking about the one on the Ning tool bar above, it just shows me what's on this network.
The directory needs a lot of help, and the original search feature should have stayed up. When we are looking at "advanced technology" the goal is to be convenient and find things fast. The directory is okay..but when competing with other social network providers for users...you have to be a lot more advanced than that..and the Ning.com's original search feature was at least "workable" and made sense. What is going on now is causing a lot of issues among network creators and the loss of referrals from network creators and Ning.com users who were going to refer their friend's to Ning, but decided not to because of taking down a feature that is both basic, made sense in this day of "advanced technology and technology usage". We have ways to search for a ning.com site, but you have to make it better than your last search feature, not worse.
I posted a message here last night and it seems to have disappeared. What's going on? Are messages to these NC pages being moderated/censored?
Certainly looking forward to whatever comes next... great question Tamika and thanks for the link Zohra - very useful :)
You can also use our Power Search at top of Ning Dir, home page. It searches for Ning Networks, across the web. I would paste the code here, if I could. It wouldn't work.
Happy New Year!
Jen
Thanks Jen... I have been wondering why Ning removed the Search capability!
Hi!

We removed search late last year, which Gina speaks to in a blog post here.

While we work on developing the new network discovery service, I find the blog itself to be a great Ning-specific search. I've also used regular Google search to find Ning Networks, although I expect I miss out on those who use their own domain and remove most Ning links.

Thanks!
Laura
