Looking to upload a flash file to my site, but it refers to an xml file for information. Since both files need to be saved in the same location for the reference to work, I am finding it a bit of a challenge to use the Flash file.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi JP, Thanks for the info, what is happening is that the flash swf file pulls information from an XML file in order to work correctly. The xml file requires to be saved in the same folder within the file hierarchy and every time I upload files to Ning, a different folder path is given and not in the same folder.

I can make the flash file display by using the Ning URL given when the file is uploaded, it is the xml reference that cannot be made since I can't seem to be able to save them both in the same folder...

Also, the .fla file I got was purchased through a 3rd party and I cannot update the code in it. For whatever reason my Flash MX can't open a flash 6 file??? weird.
Hi Andrew,

You might be able to use URL rewriting to create a generic location for both files. Use caution though please :-)

Thanks,
Phil
Will I need to update all my images and files to this new rule, if I decide to go with the change? I only need to update one file, and don't want to have to recreate stuff in my site.

thanks.
Hi Andrew,

I'm not really sure what you mean by updating your images and files. URL rewritting will allow you to go to yournetwork.com/this.xml and see the xml file that you uploaded to api.ning.com/long/string/of/gibberish/file.xml

But by making changes to the URL rewriting rules, you can end up making your network or parts of it, inaccessible, so you need to exercise extreme caution.

Thanks,
Phil
Thank Phil. This looks a bit complicated and definetly not worth for loading single flash file.

I appreciate the info.
