I simply Cant Do This Dns Go Daddy Malarky.

Is there an easy way to do this... I've registered and purchased my domain...I simply dont know how to do the domain mapping... I am getting confused with all the advise given, ive looked at the go daddy videos, but no!.........if there is anyone out there that can help me I would be ever so grateful...

2 tell me the name of your new domain

3 double check you done this http://www.ning.com/help/cgi-bin/ning.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p...

if its all correct when did you last change it?

Hi Ascot thank you for replying,

1. My ning site is http://newtonhallnationalchildrenshome.ning.com/

2. My new domain is newtonhallnationalchildrenshome.co.uk

3. I've looked at the helpful video, (point 5 of the video.).. I'm not sure what too put in the boxes, that seems to be my problem...I've tried putting the ning ip address 208.82.16.68 in the box but it doesnt accept it.

I know how to get to the CNAMES (Aliases)  (Point 4. of the video.) I open the cnames wizard box, but again, I dont know what addresses to put into the box.

Then theres the name servers by default they are. (NS23.DOMAINCONTROL.COM NS24.DOMAINCONTROL.COM) I dont know what to put in the boxes. I know your suppose to put an address in the 2 boxes, but which address? and aren't they suppose to begin with a number? ...where do I get the number from? ..

I then go to nings domain mapping and put some addresses in the alternate domain ie newtonhallnationalchildrenshome.co.uk and it basically tells me I have everything the wrong way round and the ip address is pointing to a different ip address, probably go daddys ip...lol...its probably very obvious to others, so I do appologise for taking up peoples time with this and I thank you for your input...I'll obviously keep trying.

This is the message I get for my latest attempt, the message from the domain mapping on Ning reads.......Your CNAME record for www.newtonhallnationalchildrenshome.co.uk points to newtonhallnationalchildrenshome.co.uk, but it should point to newtonhallnationalchildrenshome.ning.com.

NS23.DOMAINCONTROL.COM NS24.DOMAINCONTROL.COM you should not need to touch them unless you have changed these in the past and pointed them somewhere else...

Thats good as I havent touched those....in the ning domain mapping I have put in where it says alternate domain1. my address, www.newtonhallnationalchildrenshome.co.uk

Forget the video did you do what it said to do in the link i sent.?

after you put this number you need to hit SAVE ZONE TOP RIGHT, BLACK BUTTON not GO .......could this be your problem..

In the @ option of the screen shot you posted  I put in the ning address Ive Now changed it to @ as has been suggested...ive always pressed the save zone file.

Okay thats got a better reply it now says...There is no DNS record set up for newtonhallnationalchildrenshome.co.uk.

Aha update it now says.....Your changes were saved successfully....that sounds positive though the url hasnt changed still says Ning.

Oh Ascot!!...its done it...thank you ever so much for your time and solution I'm ever so grateful...crikey that was so easy once you described it as such...I think I was reading too much into the advice videos and info I was getting that it just confused and flustered me...once again thank you ever so much...I assume I am done now...:)

Here is you answer....... It can take HOURS to change over.......one thing you can do is undo the setting in ning mapping use your ning address and every few hours try the co.uk one. it will switch over but takes time..

It changed over straight away, as soon as I tried your suggestions Ascot the url changed too .co.uk...:)
