If someone explains why they're leaving your Ning Network, do you want an email about it?

Hey all!

We're exploring allowing members to note why they're leaving your Ning Network, if/when they click "Leave ". If we do this, we'll make this information available in your Manage-Members pages.

Should we also send you an email with the message as well? Would that be useful?

Evan, I wanted to add something to my comments: I can certainly see the value in this type of feature. It could be a great way to get good feedback on "what's wrong" with a network. My reaction is based on experience, because of the nature of what I offer - - free assistance. I hope this feature will accomplish what I'm sure Ning intends.

Sorry if I came across too strong. And probably, I'm a very isolated case. I help people for free, basically. And, when they complain, sometimes I have to turn a deaf ear, to help the ones who don't complain.

Best,
Jen

Good point.

If I was admin on the site you felt you had to leave, the offending member
would have been banned.

Hey Jen!

No problem. Our plan here is to make this an optional email, as well as place it on the Manage-Members pages, so you wouldn't have to receive it if you didn't want to.

Hey Evan,
Thanks. I worried about being too forthcoming on this one. Sometimes I do that. ;-)
Best,
Jen
We ask every single member that asks how to leave, why. And we've saved 4 of the 5 that asked.

short answer: YES and I'd like some way of still having the persons contact info. One email with their email info and answer about why they left would be ideal.

REAL EXAMPLE:

Thank you so much for the compliment :-)
I have absolutely no complaints about your site, there is nothing I don't like about it as such, I'm sure it is great for the right people. I unfortunately have no use for it nor gain anything from it anymore because I no longer model.

I would like to know how to delete my account. I do not want any of my pictures on the site anymore.

Thanks,
Morgan

Hi Morgan,

We really value user feedback, is there any reason in particular that you'd like to remove your account? There are many features on the site that may not be clearly visible that might be able to address any reason for wanting to close your account. As the top site to showcase images like the fantastic ones in your portfolio, it's a smart move to at least keep the profile online and just set yourself to not receive messages. Looking forward to your reply.

e
I think this is a wonderful idea. Double thumbs-up from me.
Hi Evan

I think this is obvious. Could we find any company on the planet that would not be interested in what made a customer leave them.

I vote yes, of cause. Excellent idea.
Evan.
There are companies that are not interested why customers leave.
Great Idea!!
I like the idea. at least it would give me an overview of what is causing attrition.
