WHY?? please tell me WHY?

I know the videos have been fixed to display iframe but why can't we add iframe in a text box? there are plenty of widgets today i would love to use and I can't.

Are you creators aware of this? give them a shout :)

Hi Spyro,

I've just placed two iframes into text boxes on my home/main page. They are working perfectly. Did you try just one iframe code or did you try different ones. What error message did you see or did it not simply show. More details will help us help you.

James

ok sorry, the homepage can have iframes, but i can not display iframes in other sections, like events, blog posts, comments.

I do not get an error message, the iframe code is being deleted by the system and it displays nothing...tried html code.

it would be great if we can do that. please fix it guys

I found one way to add iFrames anywhere on a Ning site, using jQuery.  You can see an example and the code, here:

http://jqueryhelp.ning.com/forum/topics/add-an-iframe-to-a-discussion

Best wishes!!

interesting tip, i visited but i didn't see an example so I'm not sure i get it right. the video in the iframe doesn't display? was it meant to be like this ? will try it out anyway

thank you

Sorry to say, but i have the same problem with iframe and jquery as I have without it. :S Iframe dissappears one way or another

Link to your site where you are trying this out, so I can try and help, please... :)

Also, what browser are you using?  I tested my code on IE and FF, and the iframed video and widget on my thread show for me.

Thanks!

Thanks TJ, I'm testing it in my test network, but i can invite you if you want. actually I added the codes in a blog post as i see in your instructions, is that right?

The iframe is gone after saving as it would do anyway. have you got an example of it? show me a page that you managed to add an Iframe with this trick ?

Thank you

Hi Spyro,

In addition to the link above, where I added a widget and a YouTube video, I tested it in an Event Description, which you can see here: http://jqueryhelp.ning.com/events/future-event

I did this by adding an id to a p tag in whatever box I want the iFrame to appear, like this:

span class="HTML_ELM">p id="iFrameTest"></p>

Then I add the code shown in the discussion on my site to the Custom Code box, inside a script tag, like this:

<script type="text/javascript">
x$("p#iFrameTest").html('<iframe src="http://www.bkserv.net/YTS/Top15Banner.aspx" frameborder="0" width="320" scrolling="no" height="191"><a href="http://www.bkserv.net/YTS/Top15Banner.aspx">YouTube\'s Most Popular Channels</a></iframe>');

</script>

That should put the YouTube's Most Popular Channels widget in an iFrame where the paragraph with id of iFrameTest is at.

If you can't see the widget on my future-event page, let me know what browser you are using.

If you need any more help, please message me on my site.

Thanks and best wishes!

 EDIT: Somehow the code got messed up here, but you can see it at the link to my site that I gave above:

http://jqueryhelp.ning.com/forum/topics/add-an-iframe-to-a-discussion

Thanks. :)

oh i seeee. thanks, I will try the tip and i will let you know... and makes sense now, I should get it right :)  will update here , I actually wanted to use it for event description too :) ,

If i want more than one iframes I will have to use different tags i suppose? like iframetest1, iframetest2, iframetest3 and call them in places i want.. great cant wait to try out

I followed your link http://jqueryhelp.ning.com/events/future-event but I dont see any iframe embedded :S ...are you sure it is there?

it will also not work as when a paste the x$("p#iFrameTest").html('<iframe into the custom box it displays in the footer of my network :S. i tried the new and the old editor but i have the same problem

There's a YouTube's Most Popular Channels widget on the future-event page and its in an iFrame I put there using jQuery.  I see the following, using IE8 (attached too).  The widget is right under where it says "Here is an embedded iFrame:" What browser are you using?

Hey TJ,

Something weird is going on. I do not see the actual iframe like in your screenshot in IE 9 (w or w/o compatibility mode), Chrome 9 (stable), Firefox 4 or RockMelt (chromium based). Just a blank space.
