improved search function

I'm running a survey on my site right now, and for the second time in a row, the biggest complaint is the search function not working well.

 

We've all talked abut this before, did anyone come up with a good solution?

For example-  can someone at Ning tell us what they are using on the home page of this site instead of the default box in the top right?

should I embed some kind of google search into the site?

We're using Google Site Search so we can search content both here on Creators but also from the Help Center domain. We want to provide both help articles and community answers here, so we have opted to use Google Site Search. Note that this is not free because it is ad-free, but if you're okay with ads, it could maybe work for you, too.
