I was going to wait until I had it installed on my site, but I could hardly contain my enthusiasm. Last night I discovered a streaming service called iBroadcast. It's a free service that allows you to broadcast not only Youtube videos, but live streaming! You can customize your station (which is currently limited to a few functions), and it comes equipped with a commenting system where you can see your viewers and chat with your audience.

So what's so awesome about it, you may ask? Well, aside form being free, you can add it to your Facebook business page. What makes it more appealing is that you can embed it into your Ning network!

Earlier this evening, I contacted one of the developers of iBroadcast, asking if there was any way iBroadcast could be made more Ning friendly, I hope to hear back from him soon.

The first time I visited the site, I was so excited at the possibilities, I completely missed the "how to" section. Here's how it works:

1. Create Your Profile (Click "EDIT STATION PROFILE")

2. Get Media

  • Coming To Broadcast Studio February 3rd, 2012: Live Streams from Justin.TV
  • Using the box above, search all of YouTube for music and videos right here on iBroadcast.
  • Add videos that you find elsewhere - just paste the YouTube link and click "Search"
  • Find content on other stations - the +Broadcast and +Library buttons on the player are hooked up to your Broadcast Studio

3. Create Your Broadcast

  • (Optional) Click a video to preview it.
  • "Broadcast" adds it to your playlist (also saves to library)
  • "Library" saves it to your library
  • Arrange your playlist using the links next to each item

4. Be The Broadcaster

  • Click the red "START BROADCAST" button above the playlist, and you're on the air.
  • Tune in to your station by clicking its name or profile pic, wherever you may be on the site.
  • Compete for ratings as you move up the Channel Surfer

5. Build Community

  • Share your station on Facebook and invite your friends to hang out in iBroadcast.
  • Help new users find their way around.
  • Teach your friends to broadcast!
  • Get out there, explore our world, discover cool stations, and make new friends.

6. Shape The Future of Media

  • As a founding member of a community like no other, everything you do directly shapes what it will become.
  • Try new things! Explore new types of content and a variety of social interactions. You will be amazed at what is possible.
  • By February 3rd, broadcasters will have access to live video streams, a beautifully redone Broadcast Studio, and many more profile customizations and sharing tools.
  • We welcome your ideas! Like us on Facebook, find us in the chat and talk to us, blog about us...

7. Support For Broadcasters

If you need help with something, or are just looking to introduce yourself and your station:

  • Review this guide by clicking "Learn To Broadcast" from the main menu - more general questions are answered in the FAQ.
  • Go to Hooked On iBroadcast and ask for help in the chat. A moderator or your fellow members will usually be able to provide immediate assistance within a few minutes. (And everyone's really nice around here)

  • Post your question on the wall of our Facebook Page with your question

I think iBroadcast is the best solution for businesses like franchisors, tour operators, hotels etc.

BTW. thanks for sharing it Patrick.

You're welcome, Bernard.

This is true especially if you don't have the funds to host at UStream. The ability to not only add a iBroadcast tab to your Facebook page, but also add your on iBroadcast stand alone page has many possibilities for those of us who utilize Facebook to draw in members to our Ning networks.

Thanks Patrick

I'll keep an eye on your feedback about this....

I've had a quick look, isn't this just like Ustream?

There are several ways this is different that Ustream which I've outlined above, not the least of which is that it's free.

If you wish to do just audio, that can be done as well. There are many who use Youtube (or other video service) for their audio. I didn't quite get that's what you were looking for in your discussion. My apologies for the misunderstanding.

Oh my God!!! Its the coolest service ever!

Thnks for sharing this service

Sorry I thought you made it! LOLs! Yet its pretty awesome!
