Is 'Mobile Uploads - Add By Phone" BROKEN by setting up email MX records for my domain?

I recently changed my Ning site domains MX settings to use Google Apps as my email service.  My question is:  Did I mess up the ability for members to "Add by Phone" -- emailing pictures (using the special email address listed in their profile) to their profile / publish them on my Ning site?

Previously there were no MX settings pointing to Ning.  And the mobile upload via email worked.  There are still no MX records pointing to Ning (although there ARE now MX records pointing to Google Apps servers).  I'm not sure how that worked before (without MX records pointing to Ning)... so I'm not sure how we broke it now.  Google apps appears to have a catch-all that is snagging these mobile uploads.  But I'm confused because it worked before with no MX records.

Help!  How can we fix this?

is there a way to just remove the insinuation that you can upload a mobile picture on a network?  we have a branded network with domain mapping and don't want to go there ::) ?

Hi Eric,

There isn't yet (apart from perhaps using javascript or css to hide it), but we're looking at some improvements here that should fix the overall issue and also let you turn the feature off.

While this workaround changes the email address displayed on a member's settings page, it does not change the address displayed when a user accesses the /m version of my network, clicks the "add" button at the top, and selects "Upload a photo".  It still displays the domain aliased version of the email address.  This is what all members see when trying to upload from their phone.  Is there a workaround for fixing this part?

 

Better yet, can we please have a real fix for this issue?

I'm sorry to say that I don't have any new info to share about this. I would strongly suggest submitting a ticket so that we can perhaps raise the visibility of this issue inside our system.

Please address this.  Will this be addressed in the new mobile version of our networks that is scheduled?  Also, any update on when the new mobile version is expected to be ready?

my members have NEVER been able to send photo's via mobile to our network......I sent in a ticket ages ago..nothing was resolved...but Im okay with it..its not really a big feature on my network...BUT I do want google apps for personalized email address's like .....@mommalicious.co.za...it will look oh so professional :D

This issue has been around since the beginning...  :(  Any chance this can get fixed soon?  Are there specific technical hurdles from preventing this from being fixed now so that our networks (that we pay for) can use our domain aliased mobile upload addresses?
