Is their any way for an Admin to change a members email address or password?

I know that the member can change both of these themselves, but the scenario I am struggling with is that I have two members who no longer have access to the email address that they originally joined the community with.

So if they reset the password via the login page, then new password will be send to the email address that they can no longer access.  And of course because they don't know their password, they can't log in to change their own email address.

Usually there is a way for an Admin to change some things on a members behalf (for example, I see that an Admin can change a users profile picture).

Anyone have any success doing something like this?

I see where you're coming from and have added your insight to the report. An option to quickly reset a member's password would empower the administrator and could improve the overall member experience. We don't get a whole lot of member password reset requests, but if this is an issue you run into frequently, it might be a good idea to remind your members to keep their profile information as up-to-date as possible.

Thanks Allison!

we do that Allison--but NC's have been asking for EVER for the ability to perform normal admin functions such as this

I agree completely with what Chris has written.  We as NC's look like idiots when we can't change emails or reset passwords.  Also as noted, this restriction is a holdover from when Ning had one login for each person across all Ning networks that they were a member of.  That is no longer the case.  Me changing an email on my network does not affect a global Ning login.

Please get this fixed.  It's been far too long and we all have users with multiple accounts because they could no longer access the old one.  That sucks for usability and appearances.

here here !!!

Here's another request for the option to change an email address, especially when it's an easy to spot typo.  Two recent registrants used belssouth.net instead of bellsouth.net and cwa-union instead of cwa-union.org for their email account domain.

I'm surprised an email like user@cwa-union is even allowed to create an account, shouldn't form validation catch that as not being a real email address (no period followed by characters)?

Hi Neil, If you notice a member sign up with a typo in his email address, you can reach out and ask that member to update the information on his profile page.

Did some testing and I see what you mean about registering a new member with an incomplete email address like user@cwa-union. It should be possible to add a rule like the one you've outlined above, and I've gone ahead and passed this idea along to our product team. Thanks!

Hi Allison, thanks for passing the idea along to the production team.

Agreed -- having this problem as well and it's very frustrating.
