Is there an APP for NING?
My site has really grown significantly in the last 6 months and a few people have asked if we have an iPad app for the site.
Has this ever been done for a NING Site?
What's out there?
If nothing, is there some talk about it being available in the future?

There isn't an iPad app, but there is an iPhone app for Network Creators to use to manage their network. We aren't able to provide a separate, custom-branded app for every network on the platform, but we have third-party partners who develop apps like these for Ning Creators.

Interesting Eric. Thanks for sharing. Perhaps I now have a good excuse to buy an iPhone. Is it possible to have one created? Can you recommend anyone?

The reviews mostly focused on the fact that it's not made for members of networks. So, if that's what people expected, I'm not surprised it gets bad reviews. I've used it. Works okay for me. I will find out about an update.
Groundswell: We have some listed here. Some are more expensive, some less, some more functional, some less.

You're definitely right, this app is not stellar and needs a lot of work. Eric does point out that a lot of the reviews are because members can't use the app, but that's intentional. NCs are very branding conscious, and the only way to easily create an app that could be used by members would be to create a single "Ning" app that they would log in to. We've heard from a lot of NCs that they don't want that, because they would want the app to have their branding, from the iTunes store to the app's interface.
In terms of the app we did build though, it needs to be improved — we haven't improved it in a while. We're aiming to re-prioritize it and really add some much-needed functionality to it, like admin access and the forum feature. That work isn't yet slotted, but I'll be pushing for it and hopefully we can get it on the roadmap sooner rather than later.
