I had the opportunity to inspect the source of a Ning network tonight, and noticed their keywords. Somehow they'v manged to keep multi-word keywords together. Now I know we can keep our multi-word tags together using double quotation marks, but it doesn't seem to work for keywords. It's the reason I abandoned putting the keywords I want into the field.

While composing this, I decided to got to the Ning Help Center for answers. Not much help there. The quotation marks are suggested, and illustrated in an example. This has never worked for me, in fact, since I built my first Ning several years back.

So what's the secret?

Seems to have taken this time, but the double quotation marks are gone. So I guess I'll see if the words are still together in an hour, or if they will separate upon page refresh.

Update: I was right. If I edit anything else in Network Details and click save, the keywords separate and are all over the place. I had to enter them again using double quotation marks.

I had never noticed this and am glad you've brought it up. cheers

You mean to tell me it's not just me?

yup. I just checked my page soure and they were all over the place. went into network details and put them in comma separated using quotes and it sorted it.

My networks have been doing this all along as well. I noticed it way back when I was first setting up my first network. They scramble every single time that you go back to the network details page.

Same here, since '08. I always thought it was my networks (I had a few back then), and I didn't understand the importance of the keywords, so I never pursued trying to resolve it. Since setting up my new network last year, I forgot and didn't notice until last night.

I'm hoping there's something Ning can do about it, in the meantime wondering why they never did. It's not even mentioned in the Help articles.
