but remains below the original color. the new color go over.

Not sure what you mean by "new color go over"? Are you seeing your change, but only for a moment? Maybe you need to add !important like this:
.feed-story-status .feed-message {background-color:#003366!important;}

The default color remain on it, and the new color appear above the default color.
I know is hard to explain.

See the diference?
The color under"default" is a light brown
And the color I want is very ligth green (#F1FAD3)
but when mixed, the result is that "military green"
