Seeking Creative Looking Themes on Ning Networks

I would love to see how others designed their sites! I am looking for a more brighter cleaner look and feel w/o having to migrate to Wordpress. The current themes seem a bit limited and there is no way I am upgrading again just so I can design my site over. Already paying but would love to see what others have done. Hi Robin, you are welcome to check out my site for an example of a brighter and cleaner look and feel. If I were you, I'd do essentially the same thing, and then in the center of the main page, or perhaps on a custom landing page, feature your about video. Hope you don't mind if I share it here. It is your strong point, best first impression, and the only thing I would present to prospective members on first encounter.

Hi Sylvia, I love your site!

I have a couple of questions regarding how you did some things and I hope that is ok.

1. The very top where you have the logo, is that the section for the ad banner?

2. The video located under the navigation text; is that also the ad banner or a text box?

3. Get Busy and Discover Your Voice - are those text boxes? I am interested in how you got the Icons to work in that location. Was that an image map? If yes, which software did you use?

4. Featured Gen Y Hub Members - how did you attain this information. Which module in featured layout is this one?

5. How did you get the navigation bar at the bottom of the site where it shows "select language" "subscribe to RSS" etc.

Lots to answer here, Frank...

1.) No. Did not use banner ad space. My header is a jpg. that I entered into a Design Studio Template...designed it in Photoshop and set it to 1280px by 134px. 

2.) Video is embedded in a text box that I added through the Features Layout, changed the title by clicking the edit tab on top right corner of text box.

3.) Get Busy is a text box, too. I got the code for that from Jen Social, then I customized the icons. ADVICE: Join JenSocial VIP. She is so worth the small investment.

4.) I believe there is an option on the Features Layout that says Members. I've since changed that title to Featured Members (top right edit box). You have to select which members you want to feature by going to the members' pages and selecting Feature (this is for admins only). I feature members in increments of 9 per row because it fits best for a center column layout.

5.) Okay this a tricky one. It's called the JenBar. Actually on a scale of 1- 10 ( 10 being the hardest) I'd put it at a solid 8 for newbies. Again...Join JenSocial VIP for the coding. It does use an Ad Box space. I had to manipulate the RSS feed area to broadcast my Feature Articles and it works perfectly. Thank you, Jen. I adore you and your talents!

Note: My customized feed is produced by a program called FeedForAll, and it is housed on an outside server. I linked that to my JenBar.
