Is there a problem with Ning and Facebook? A member alerted me that links to my network from my Facebook page were being blocked with the following message:
SorryI checked another Ning network I know that runs a Facebook page and they seem to have the same issue.

Permalink Reply by Stygo Alphamatt on June 12, 2012 at 2:43pm Yo Yo am We did it back and get the links on Ning / Yo, Don't give an F. about FB, it not my thing /
Just pop in there just to do my thing/ No more a hardcore Ninger, but still luv Ning/
Am' getting it going without fb/ cos,/Cos am a hustler but i read ma books/
Stop, no more Rhymin'
am back this evening an have tested most my links, all even the shortened ones are workin' i hope it stays like this.
Am a bit, eh would not say mad, just indifferent cos i got kicked out of Facebook Developers just because i asked a question concernin' Ning and included the link to showcase my ning network. That was the first time some moths ago I managed to speak with one admin there to get me back, the second time i was working on an app and i wanted to see if there are other NCs in fb.dev, just mentionin' ning got me kicked again. I did not go back, cos i don't need them. I googled and found the answer to complete my app. Now since the problem started i joined the fb.dev and ranted a bit and then i left them. Don't really need fb is they keep doing like this, cos i advertise there a lot and my ning network is one of the smallest, just need it to showcase my artists, bucks i make by agenting my artist on concerts, so i can do without fb or ning, but am like 60% ning and 10%fb. They should not be too pompous cos: when a door closes another one will open "Bob Nesta Marley"
At the beginning of network, it was myspace that was in, now it is fb, soon there will be another.
I dont think, it is ning issue, cos fb likes on my network, works sometime and the next time not, at the moment, my links are workin' and my likes too,
Fb is damn disturbed at the moment cos their stocks are so down. Check this cartoon i found this mornin'. I posted it immediately to fb, cos it was so hilarious^^
Lidl is the cheapest supermarket in Germany and announcin' they are selling fb stocks from next week for 1,99€ was really a good joke 2day mornin'.
still watchin' thing on fb and i would not be there if not to hunt for good events for my artists, should they continue to mess up, then i will ditch them. Guess that fb is panickin', cos stocks ain't swell as they wished.

Now i understand what Patrick Chappelle really means when he said the fb dudes are somkin' some ish'
or it could be that one of their geeks "bit more off than he could chew", seems like they want to increase their security to get hold of the market, but at the moment, they are just messing everything up.

Permalink Reply by Patrick Chappelle on June 12, 2012 at 6:08pm Yep! It's looking real ugly right now.
I'm really hoping this is going to be resolved soon.
We have our major online event of the year starting next Monday - people's choice voting for the AusMumpreneur Awards, we receive national media and thousands of new visitors to the site, the majority through shared links from facebook by the awards nominees.
This message is doing nothing for the credibility of our brand as our members and especially non-members don't see this a as ning-facebook issue but as our brand being 'reported as suspicious'. I purchased a new URL and redirected the site in the hope of getting around the issue but it has done nothing to solve the problem.
With less than a week to go before the voting begins we don't have enough time to come up with an alternative... Any suggestions as to how we can minimise the damage or wher we could direct traffic to would be welcome. This is particularly bad timing for us.

Permalink Reply by soaringeagle on June 12, 2012 at 4:42pm people got to realise that referals are a very minor trafic generator
search engines are where almost all trafic comes from
if facebook disapeared completely today it would make so little difference in trafic that you would not notice its absence just by looking at your anylitics
if you get 50,000 hits a day your likely tio get 500 from facebook
sure as far as referals go it probly sends the most but even if u get referals from 10000 sites thay wont make up a small percentage of the total
1 share on fb might get u zero hits might get 3..maybe 6..if its really sopecial content 20
i had live video streamming from an eagles nest on ustrwam there were over a million watching some days
i had 200 facebook sgares
and only 300 hits from fb
and most stuff doesnt do nearly as well
your all getting so upset over a very minor trafic generator
yea it sux..but in the grand scheme of things it makes very lil diference
look at your anylitics and aeee if you can even notice a reduced traffic...i cant
set the view to a full year..u wont notice any change at all in the averages

Permalink Reply by Patrick Chappelle on June 12, 2012 at 5:03pm There's no arguing with figures, but for most of us here, it's more than just that. I think most folks here feel this situation just makes them look bad, that it might adversely affect their reputation.

Permalink Reply by soaringeagle on June 12, 2012 at 5:17pm yea that i agree with thats why i posted a note sayijng its a glitch making ppl aware
but some are saying they cant launch their sites till its fixed and i wonder why? in the 1st months you will be lucky to get 10 whole hits from fb all month
twitters even more useless
although your socialization doe factor in to your search engine ranking =in a small way too
but it is probly under 1% of the total seo score
I have good reason to disagree with you and feel you underestimate the traffic potential you can get from Facebook.
