Hi Community,
I am trying to find whether there is a way to incorporate listings within groups, i.e. make them local to groups and not at network level. I am working with the Listings App by Apps.IO but it doesn't seem that this is possible.
Is there another listing's app? 3pp? etc? I'm open to suggestions.
Many Thanks,
Abe

You might want to check out how I did mine, Surfers Classifieds. I did it without any app at all. I'm not sure what you mean by a network level though, a group is only focused on the members of that group.

Yeah, that's what I mean, I want the classifieds to be only visible and accessible to members of that group. By network level, I mean my entire ning social network. Currently I can only deploy my Listings classified service for my entire site, but I want it to be visible to only one group.
Many Thanks,
Abe

This will then be only visible to its members... but I'm not sure why you would not want it fully public. If I posted something for sell on your site I would want everybody to see it.
I could be off basis on what I typed just above for what you want. I made a separate menu tab for mine. I believe (but not sure) that you can have a menu tab only visible to certain members (this might be for just the admins).
The only thing that the whole network will see is a single post onto your "Latest Activity Feed" each time someone adds something there.
Permalink Reply by Abe Challah on February 10, 2012 at 1:27pm Thanks Scott. My network design requires that.
My group is already private. How did you integrate your Classified service within your group?
Permalink Reply by Scott Bishop on February 10, 2012 at 2:31pm I unchecked the Forum box so it will not be visible. (...but you'll still have one. You just have to link to it)
Then I'm showing the latest posts via RSS Feed.
I placed a "Post" button so the visitor doesn't get confused with what "Add a Discussion" means.
I also place a search box in there to (just need to know a some basic html coding for this).

I checked your link and was able to modify my group following your method, so I'm almost done. But I don't know how you managed to include the categories in your forum. According to Ning that functionality is not available in the group forum (i.e. we cannot add categories to a group forum). How did you do it?
Cheers and Many Thanks,
Abe
Permalink Reply by Scott Bishop on February 17, 2012 at 10:49am That is just basic html inside the comment box (like where we are typing inside on here). After posting it I then closed it off for any more discussions.
You can find how I made the drop down list on Jens site. (I created my drop down list using her example then placed all the html into the comment box).
