According to Google Analytics, my average page load time is 19.21 seconds, over the past 6 months, with a 51% bounce rate.

So, I deleted a bunch of RSS feeds, displayed fewer groups and videos, took the "show faces" off of the Facebook button, removed Chat, and even removed member photos [replaced] and the Photos (slider) off the main page. I'm down from 9.8 seconds to 6.5 second load time for the main page per http://www.webpagetest.org/result/120611_X2_12WY/  (no affiliations).

I totally don't know anything about CSS. Any other suggestions to critique my site?

thanks,

Pat

Hey, Pat. You may want to also try out this tool to test page-loading times: Pingdom.

Thanks! I'll take a look at that.

Pat

I'm quite clueless at reading it. :-)

What is small-logo.png www.google.com/uds/css/  --- which appears to be taking a long time? I'm wondering if it is the "free" Google search box.

Thanks again,

it loads pretty quick for me, probably quicker than 4 secs, and my download speeds at this time of night are shocking - I have Richard Branson to thank for that :-)

+1 for Sir Richard Branson lol

yeah, you get a Knighthood for providing the people of Britain with overpriced health clubs, rubbish broadband and tv services, and an expensive way of getting to America. god bless him

Love it! Lol!! :)

Loads quickly here! :)

thank you! Maybe I'll add back some photos!

Any other critiques of the main page, tabs need subtabs? Font clarity, or busyness? Display more groups or videos? Maybe add back the RSS feed??  :-)

Pat

Anytime! Really like the color combinations. Makes it feel welcoming and relaxing :) One thing I would recommend, under the Members module on the main page, is feature members who have uploaded profile pictures. Other than that looks great!

Thanks! I featured members with photos in their profile.

Looks Great!
