Hi,

my site is www.fostercareworld.com and I was leaving messages for all my members who haven't visited us for a while and my account got locked. luckily i have a spare admin account but I can't see any optoin to release the lock.

I think it's due to the new spam feature having done a google search

could someone pls unlock the user a/c for mike<at>fostercareworld.com

Thanks

I am an admin for a fairly new Ning network, and I've been locked out as well. Unlike others, I didn't have the foresight to set up a spare admin account.

I have not been able to log in for days... I've submitted two help tickets (thought it was 2 different problems at the time), both of which have had no response for several days.

I would gladly sign up for premium support because it only makes sense to do that to get 'special attention', but if I'm reading the directions right I can't sign up to subscribe without logging into my social network--something I simply cannot right now because I've been locked out. So, in effect, I can't get support for this issue at all, even if I am willing to pay for it, which really leaves me hanging so far as my Ning network is concerned.

Ning is clearly a flat-out wonderful tool, so I want to stay with Ning if I can... I do realize that Ning is growing very quickly, but some of the most basic things a new admin could want just aren't here right now (starting with human-being support) and for now this is something of a disappointment. I've been an admin for many different intranet systems, content management systems, etc., so it's not as if I can't operate the controls, so to speak.

Mainly, I am just wanting to get back to the work at hand, using Ning as the tool of choice--but as other admins have stated here, there's something that's happened that's locking us out of our own networks, making our work all but impossible.

Please help...
Hi, Frank! Our advocacy team is bumping any of these reports up to first priority, so please include info in your Help Center ticket. We appreciate your patience, and I think you should be back up and running soon.
Hi Eric,
Now, when trying to log into my own network Ning account, I am told this: "Your profile details must be approved by the Administrator before you can become a member of [my network, "BFN"]!. You will receive an email once your profile is approved." Uh.... that's is going to be pretty difficult since I actually WAS the administrator of my network (BFN) and I am not receiving any emails from Ning other than updates to this "locked out of own Ning site" Ning discussion thread. I've had no reply to help ticket #00185327 since 3/12, and I realize some days are pretty rough from your point of view, but...

I'm baffled--I wasn't messaging or spamming anyone, just trying to update some user accounts. I'd be happy to PAY for help with this issue if there was any way to do that...
Eric,

I still can't get into my Ning network at all, so from an admin point of view it has been dead in the water for almost a week. Reponses to my help ticket have not been useful; I'm not convinced they are actually reading my comments. (Responses are on the order of "Everything looks fine, go ahead and use your Ning account!"---not so.)

I'm serious when I say I would happily PAY for support--either on a per-case or per-month basis or however Ning would like the money. I can't get into my own Ning network to select Premium Support, however---obviously a problem. There doesn't seem to be any phone support option I could turn to, correct?

Other than just waiting and hoping, is there anything you can suggest?

I am trying to be loyal to Ning but sorry to say, growing increasingly frustrated...

~ Frank
Frank: I just checked into this. It appears that your account isn't actually linked to your Ning Network. It may simply be a misunderstanding about which email address to use to sign in, but we're doing our best to work with you via email. We'll assign your ticket to someone else and unravel the details. I know it is frustrating, but I'm sure we can get to the bottom of it.
Hi Eric,

Please see ticket # 00185327.

Right now, when I try to sign in I'm told I have to wait for the Admin to approve my membership. But I am the admin! Plus, I'm not getting emails the admin should get (such as how to approve my own membership...)

~ Frank
Is it possible that you created your Ning Network with a different email address than what you are using to sign in? That might explain the problem. I will have our team contact you about the details.
There was something messed up with regard to my members' emails, which was the initial problem. Members were getting Ning-sent emails intended for other member's inboxes. I tried to delete one member completely to quarrantine the damage, but after that my own account was locked out and got the error message "there is no Ning account for that email address." So, I created a new Ning account with the same email I used previously, but my network apparently doesn't use just the email account to recognize Admin rights, because I cannot get into my own network until the Admin (whoever that is now) can approve it.
found it and adding one now
thanks leo - i read the first one last night- luckily i am the only one affected and i have a 2nd admin a/c just in case. lucky for me!
I don't have any reply to my ticket logged y-day - I have been considering migrating away from Ning for a number of reasons and whilst I believe Ning might not miss me this doesn't make my decision to migrate any less likely.

At least an acknowledgement would be nice - If I did not have another account then I would be completely locked out of my account.

This is a poor feature to add if it takes so much to be fixed.

Hi, Mike! Very sorry to hear this! You should have received a response. Did you already check the status of your ticket on the Help Center?

Let me see if I can check up on this for you or get someone to jump in here ASAP.
