Hi Folks. I have a minor but annoying problem. Some people on my site post events that they post as starting today and then running for the next six months. This has the result that their event is permanently displayed on the front page of my site as the next upcoming event. This then masks genuine one-off events that are going to take place in the coming week. Is there any way of fixing this (other than changing the setting so only featured events are shown and then looking out for new posts and then featuring them if I want them on the front page)? Many thanks for any suggestions.

You as the NC can edit the event and fix the dates or delete the event. I placed my site events on moderate to cease that type of activity (it's practically the only way to stop people from abusing the feature), I also have a notice up regarding events that states the following:

Please be advised the events section is not intended as a place to advertise products and sales. If you would like to share this information with the site please place it into a blog or advertise it with us. Further, an event is a one-time occurrence over the course of a day or several - any event submitted lasting more than a week will not be approved. Many Thanks.

I hope this helps.

Many thanks, Starrfire. Useful and sensible advice :-)

Moderate the events so that they are approved before hand. Set-up a 'role' to moderate events and give that role to a decent member :)

Many thanks, Jords. Have done as you and Starrfire recommended.

Great to hear! Hope it works out to be a good solution for you!
