I've been looking around for previous discussions about this subject and haven't found any. Though I will admit I didn't look to hard. But my question is, Is there any reason why Ning cannot also offer marketing packages? Since I started my network I've spent all my time just trying to get the word out about it. It would be much easier if they would offer marketing packages as they do with their other products. If most creators are like me then there is no money for expensive advertising campaigns and as a result the only option is to grind it out on your own somehow to get your network some exposure. Thanks!

Interesting idea. We are actually working on something sort of like this that is related to SEO (search engine optimization). Can you share some ideas of what you'd like to see? When you say offer marketing packages like we do with our other products, can you maybe elaborate on that? Interested in hearing what would help grow your network, so fire away with any suggestions. I'm no marketing expert and I understand these things may take some negotiating, partnerships and be hard to put together, but a couple packages that offer things like email campaigns, Maybe working out a deal with some news papers, magazines, blog sites and even the big boys such as yahoo and msn. When they lack content and need to fill some space we have the option to fill those gaps with articles about our networks. Having the ability for members to sync their profile to facebook,  as well as SEO like you mentioned before.

Well, we probably won't be pursuing any partnerships with newspapers or magazines or other Web sites to syndicate Ning content. I don't think they lack content; the Internet is pretty much overflowing with content. The problem is having your content be found in that sea of content. Better SEO can help you get found in that ocean.

Of course, your content always needs to be compelling for other people to want to read it, so that is something to consider.

many of the same problems you mention here are exactly the same as I've had myself im just about to make a list of packages available to our members on shineonms.com to support others and if ning would allow me to share the links with them first there may be a great way everyone could benefit.
