Yesterday I successfully blocked myself from my own network thanks to McAfee program. No idea why it happened because it wasn't the first time I was going to it since using it. Out of blue it just said McAfee blocked your computer from connecting to potentially dangerous IP address.
Of course I solved this by allowing the access but still think it's odd that happened because like I say it's not the first time I was going on the site.
Weird!
Anyone had similar problem?

I absolutely cannot STAND McAfee because it does stuff like that all the time.

This also happened to a Member today, no previous problems and it appears to have happened in exactly the same way.  Resolved by spotting that IP address 208.82.16.168 was being blocked and Allowing it enabled NING to be accessed again.  But why that IP address?

It happened to one of my members too. She had to go in and manually make McAfee accept our site's IP address.  And she'd been accessing it just fine for MONTHS.  It just started all of a sudden.

we also have half a dozen blocked members--unreal!

Same here, just the other day in fact. I also use McAfee.

Yup this has happened to several of my members over the past week.

Is this another issue like Facebook blocking Ning?

.....and btw, we seem to rate fine on McAfee's Site Advisor service.

Members are removing the offending McAfee and are beginning to return...they have installed OTHER AV

A fellow creator suggested that the latest flash version update 11.3 and Firefox 13 was causing the conflict. Can that be so? I'm not having any problem but use G Chrome and Norton.  When she switched to G Chrome...no problem

Same thing just happened to me!  I couldn't get on my ning site or creators.  I had to open McAfee Internet Security, click Navigation, then Firewall, then NetGuard, then edit IP Address 208.82.16.168 and allow it.  Thanks to pdanson for mentioning that IP Address in a reply here.  I Googled "mcafee blocks ning" and found this thread with the mention of that IP Address.  Of course I had to read the cached version of it because the live version was blocked!  All is well now, but very strange!
