Good Afternoon. I'm hoping someone can answer a quick question for me... I've noticed that when my members are using the mobile upload option ( to send pictures from their phone to their profile )  I'm getting emails that are being sent to my ( offsite )   email address, with pictures attached that they're obviously intending to upload onto their profiles.

I've only noticed this happening recently, and I'm wondering why my members mobile upload pictures are being emailed as attachments to my offsite email... If these emails/pictures are coming to me... does this mean they're not uploading onto my members profiles, as they're intending to do? Or is this normal for me to get these emails?

If there's something that I need to fix, could you please let me know what, and if there isn't anything wrong with this situation, is there a way for me not to receive emails through my offsite email address... every time my members use this feature?! I'm fairly certain though, that there's something wrong with this since I've never got my members mobile upload pictures coming as attachments to my own offsite email before.

Any Help Is Greatly Appreciated,

Phillip Brunelle

All of this sounds unlike anything I've ever heard, so perhaps there is a misunderstanding somewhere along the way. Sounds pretty darn funky to me. If you can contact our support team from the support link on  your dashboard, they can do some testing.

Hey, just wanted to come back and check on this. Did you contact our team? Did you get a ticket number? Just want to make sure this gets tackled for you.

Hello Eric -- Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, I did submit a ticket, but I got a rather vague response. I will reply again with to copy and paste the email that I got from them... Also, I'm actually having another problem right now. I'm getting a 404 error on my network.

If you go to either my Ning URL www.HauntedSociety.Ning.com or my custom URL www.HauntedSociety.com you will see that all of a sudden it's coming up with a 404 error...

I have this URL through Yahoo, which I've had since starting my network a couple months ago, and it has always worked fine in the past since setting up my domain mapping... with the DNS settings are still set to the A Record IP  208.82.16.68  and the others set to the Ning URL HauntedSociety.Ning.com

Any idea why this is happening now or is there any way you could help me with this, or do I need to submit another ticket for this too?

Thanks -- Phillip

HERE IS THE EMAIL RESPONSE TO MY ORIGINAL ISSUE WITH MOBILE UPLOADS:

Hey Phillip,

I checked out the network but saw members "Add by phone" email addresses display in this format: PhillipBru658@hauntedsociety.ning.com. Emails with images to that address should be forwarded right to the Photos feature. It looks like the network does have a custom URL, so if you somehow set up an MX record (Mail record) to forward photos to your own Yahoo account I could potentially see them winding up there, but that's be tough. The guide to setting up MX records for custom URLs is available at http://www.ning.com/help/?p=4371. You'd want to ask members what email address they're seeing at My Page > Settings for their Add by Phone email address.

Best,
Blake

It looks like you might be having some domain redirection issues. And, you need to set up an MX record for the add-by-phone feature to work correctly. We have tutorials in our Help Center, but if those won't work for you, I'm going to have to ask you you reply back to your last email from our support team.

The best I can do for you right now is to remove your domain redirection so you can try to set this up again. You need to point your Ning subdomain to your custom domain, but don't point your custom domain back to your Ning domain. If you do, visitors will get stuck in an endless loop.

none of your links work

Yeah, I know. Thanks for letting me know. It has turned into a much bigger issue than expected. Now I have an issue with the domain mapping to my custom domain, but the website is accessible with the Ning URL until I'm able to get things fixed... http://www.HauntedSociety.Ning.com
