In July, when we changed the Members and Friends pages to a list, instead of a grid:

The old grid view looked similar to this:

The new view looks like this:

We're looking at taking the most popular parts of each view (actions links and larger, side-by-side profile photos) and combining them into a single view:

What do you think?

Hey Rodrigo,

Did you see Andrew's post down below? Also, where would an "Invite" link take you?

Sorry Evan...

not "Invite", but "Add as Friend" link

add action link - Add as Friend, not only Give Gift and Comment

Thanks!
Hey everyone!

We have been working with your feedback, and took the best of the list and grid views and combined them into a single view.

Here is the mockup we are working on (click here for full size):

What are your thoughts? Would you like this to be the default view?

Thanks, and looking forward to your feedback.

Personally I like this as a default view.

I also have a couple of additional Requirements I'd like to throw into the discussion:

REQ1: Add the ability to list one or more additional fields from the users profile questions in the member listing in addition to the above picture formatted list e.g. company name and/or job title. This would be extremely useful for professional networks and could be similar to linkedin.

REQ2: Add the ability to list members in a tabular format without pictures, but with more information e.g. Name, Location, plus other fields listed with the user profile answers, ''add a comment, online indicator, etc

Ken
These are great points. We will consider!
I agree... only having the name and eliminating location is going to make my own networks much less useful. Being able to pick at least one of my profile fields for inclusion would go a lonnnggg way towards improving this screen. IMO, that would be way more useful than either of the two links being shown (gifts or comment), since without any sort of context on the person, why would I do either of those actions?
Absolutely agreed with Ken on REQ1. More flexibility should be added in the view of members in the network. Member is the basic element in the network and having the knowledge in understanding the member in the Member Page is definitely an enhancement to NING. Again, I believe member profile questions are a powerful tools for NC to design how to structure the network by defining the "attributes" of members such as the DNA in our bodies. Too bad we have not too many way to leverage this DNA which is already embedded in our network.....

P.S.
I have another post in this topic.
Hey Vander!

Check out my post here. We're pushing forward with Ken's idea :)
