As I remember if we set our control panel to only Administrators can delete forum content, then if a member leaves, they are unable to take all their content in the forums with them? We had a member leave and all their forum content is gone, leaving big gaps in our forum discussions. Here is how ours is set.

Is this the correct setting, or am I doing it wrong.

I think you are doing it right. If you've had this set this way over time, the departing member wouldn't be able to delete discussions that have participating members in them; only discussions they started that no one else participated in.

I have had this set for about year now.

Howabout his replies to other forum posts, do those go away when he leaves or do they stay? And blogs, do they stay as well? Thanks Eric

Members can delete their content when they leave your site.

Mat, that is correct. They can except for discussions where other people have participated IF you have made this choice in the settings. TAW or anyone else, if you haven't seen this note, check it out in that article:

*Please note that certain categories of content you’ve posted, such as groups you’ve created or discussions you’ve started, will not be automatically deleted during this process. That’s because other members may still be using those groups and discussions. If you wish to request deletion of this remaining content (groups & discussions), please contact the Network Creator.

I don't think it is possible for him to delete his entire account if this was set. Do you have any admins? If so, they could have suspended or deleted his account. Nothing prevents them from doing that. Otherwise, I don't think it is possible. I just tested it, and it appears to be working as it should. If you think this is broken, we may need you to contact our support team so they can check any logs we have closely and make sure everything is working as it should.

This only applies to forum discussions, I believe.

Thanks guys for the great info.

Eric, all his replies to forum posts are gone. In the past we have had members leave and their replies to forum posts stayed intact, with a default avatar and a coded name below the avatar, but the replies stayed intact which was nice, no big holes were left in our discussions. For some reason it did not work this time. I have two admins and they did not delete or suspend him, he left entirely on his own taking all his content with him. Fortunately the content was not too valuable, but I am worried for the future of our network. I'll send a ticket in.

have not seen any feedback on this, but pretty sure this hides the 'Delete my content' option when member leaves... seems too general, though nothing else seems to be affected.
