Membership/Subscription fees

Is anyone in this group charging membership/subscription fees for their network?

Putting aside the mechanical problems caused by the fact that Ning does not currently support this function, I am just trying to get a sense of whether anyone is actually doing it and making it work.

We currently offer two (2) Membership Levels:

- Free Users (can have up to 9 friends in profile & post up to 1 event per month).

Free Users are normally not very active members & they would not be interested in paying.

- Premium Members (can have up to 55 friends in profile & post up to 5 events per month): 2.49€/m

Premium Members are the most active members, usually people willing to grow their contacts network, event organizers & fans willing to contribute.

- Sponsors (can have a profile with up to 55 friends, 1 photo, 1 link & post 1 event per month): 2,49€/m

They are local businesses willing to advertise & get customers.

We currently have about 30 Premium Members, so a total income of around 60€/month (paypal comission is around 0.5€/m per member), which allows us to pay to ning & make some advertising, but not profits.

Good news! We have announced the Paid Access feature. Check it out here. If you want to sign up for early access, you can do that now. We also have a FAQ page for this to answer the most basic questions. Since this discussion is a bit old, I may close it out, but let us know if you have any questions in the new discussion. Thanks!
