Since updating their browsers to IE 9, we have members saying that they can no longer send messages on the site's messaging system. The "Send" button doesn't work. Anyone else heard of this or have any ideas?

I hear ya Mark, and you're right, but im sure its a job in itself to stay on top of it so it can work as good as it can.......as a footnote, I've received excellent feedback from people who took my advice and started using Chrome, people love it. I've also received feedback from people who have said they seem to be viewing ok with IE, not sure which version, though. It makes me wonder if these issues could possibly be IE combined with their OS causing the issue? some people are still on XP, some Vista, some Windows 7........wonder if there is something in this?
One thing to keep in mind: Many people continue to use IE6 even though Microsoft themselves have asked people to stop using IE6. They even have a Website to try and get the 11% of people in the world who are still using it to stop. I don't think we should continue to support IE6 if the company that made it has stopped supporting it.
Yep, I'd agree with that, Eric.
LOL i totally agree as well, and if im not mistaken, hasn't Microsoft stopped supporting Xp too? And Eric, I wonder if that (current) 11.4% is people in the world online, or people in the world using some version of IE? I'd think it's the latter, no way in the world (no pun intended) 11.4% of all people online are using IE6! If the latter is correct, then Microsoft is kinda misleading in the statement "11.4% of the world was using Internet Explorer 6, which was 7.3 percentage points less than the previous year"
IE6, IE7, IE8... But the reported problem is with IE9. When will it be solved with IE9?

Until the IE9 issues are resolved, can Ning just add this at the beginning of the HEAD tag:

<!--[if gte IE 9]>
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8">
<![endif]-->

This will force the browser into "IE 8 Mode".

I thought that might help too, and I wrote something similar in another IE9 thread a few times!

Haven't heard from anyone at Ning as to whether that would be a good solution or not.

i just checked the head of this page and I see they are using code to make it IE7 compatible.  My thought was, if they do it here, they might be able to do it for all our sites, until IE9 is supported by Ning.

Any chance we could see this quick fix put into place soon? 9% of the visits to my site in Sept. and Oct. 2011 were with IE9. Seems like a fairly significant chunk of users who aren't able to use my site fully.

I stated that the code needs to be added to the beginning of the HEAD tag. Here is some information from Microsoft backing this up:

The X-UA-Compatible header is not case sensitive; however, it must appear in the header of the webpage (the HEAD section) before all other elements except for the title element and other meta elements.

How long has IE9 been out now and this is still an issue? Come on Ning, this fix should be a priority. At least once a week a user on my site isn't able to do something because they are on IE9.

This MUST be resolved soon.

I currently cannot post pics with IE9 so have downloaded chrome for when I need to do so...it is a pain in the *** but it works!!
