This is a hypothetical question while I decide whether to use Ning or invest in building a regular site. How big of a challenge would it be to convert from Ning to a regular site? Lets say I launch through Ning and get thousands of users and then decide to switch to a regular site. Would it mean that I would lose all existing members or how would this migration of all user information and accounts take place? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks!

  • Hey, Jahn. You can always export your content if you'd like using the Ning Archiver App. Of course, migrating any member accounts would depend on whether or not the service you ultimately choose to use can accept an import of member data. I guess you would need to ask them if they can accomplish that.

    • Thanks Eric, glad to see that there are options available.
