Could I get some examples of mobile apps (iOS/Android) that interface with Ning sites?
I'm trying to determine if the Ning API has enough functionality to offer a rich mobile experience to our users. Unfortunately it looks like the API does not support forums/groups so we'd have to offer read-only access via RSS.
Also if you have any first hand experience with MobileRoadie, DoubleDutch or ShoutEM please let me know if you recommend them.
Thanks for your time,
Phil

I've built a service called AppMyNetwork.com that let's you build iPhone apps for your Ning network. It doesn't use the Ning API so you don't have to have that plan and it has lots of functionality (Latest Activity, User Profile, Blogs, Forums, Groups, Photos, Events, and Ad support). It's different because it's focused on Ning networks and provides interactivity (you can update your status, or comment on Blogs and Forums for example). There are NC's already using it:
SweetPotato's app is here:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/defero-law/id485800776?ls=1&mt=8
Eric's app is here:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/euflocks/id486255539?ls=1&mt=8
jfarrow's app is here:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/land-surveyors-united/id485814922?ls...
These are just a few apps built using AppMyNetwork. If you have any questions you can message me.
Hope this helps.
Charles

Thanks for posting the samples built using your platform. In our search which we thought was thorough we did not come across AppMyNetwork. I will be discussing your platform with my team this week.

Let us know what you think
Permalink Reply by Phil Clarke on January 16, 2012 at 9:23am Your app looks great! You must have had a great graphic designer helping you. Unfortunately our plan calls for the ability to post to groups/forums so we are in a slightly different boat.
