Most Popular Blog Posts?

Hello,

I noticed the "Most popular Blog posts" are not the same as the "Top Blog Posts" or "Top content" in the leaderboard.

Does anyone know why the (in our case 7) most popular blog posts are shown (in the middle colomn of the Blog post page)? It looks like it's not due to the number of comments?

none of the 'top', 'most popular' or leaderboards work properly, they are completely useless. that said, they look good on the site so i keep them there as an encouragement.

defero, when you say they don't work properly, has this always been the case or lately. I was hoping to run a competition and use leaderboard as the barometer. Is Ning aware of this?

I don't think that the Leaderboards have ever really worked and Ning acknowledge as much because in the roadmap they talk about "Optimizing the engagement algorithm for large and small sites" for leaderboards.  But they're still a good way of encouraging members - they're not to know are they?!

@Defero, thanks, I also think the 'most popular' never worked correctly.

@Socman, I don't know if Ning's aware of this, I will ask them.
