Hi all
I have been trying hard to resolve my issues with the Ning help center, but other than one unfortunately unhelpful reply, my requests for help have been ignored. Maybe some of you can help me out?
I know that many people have already raised the issue of file sharing on ning. Google docs and box.net both didn't work for me and uploading individual files onto discussion groups is very cumbersome. At the very least, I'd need to create a button or folder so I can show on the main site where all the files are kept. I am going to create a Wiki to deal with some of these issues, as file sharing and adding to word and excel docs is a really important aspect of my professional expert group. Does anyone have any experience with integrating Wikis onto Ning, or will it just be a link to it?
Also, I am travelling a lot and wanted to use my iPhone or iPad to manage my ning site. However, the ning app for Apple products does not let me sign in and is therefore completely useless. I have deleted and added it again several times, but no joy. Does anyone else use these apps and have any idea how to make them work?
Many thanks, look forward to hearing from you.

Permalink Reply by Dr Sea Rotmann on July 10, 2012 at 7:17pm Thanks! The original ticket number from June 13 is: ref:_00D80cCLt._50040KMPUL:ref
I don't think I got a ticket when I replied to this one on June 14 and tried a new request to get help on these issues on July 2.

Permalink Reply by Eric Suesz on July 11, 2012 at 1:50pm Okay, thank you for that ticket number. I did some checking with our team. I can see that you got an initial response from Mayra, but that seems to have ended the conversation.
Unfortunately, I don't have a good answer for you about using third-party file-sharing systems. I am personally a big fan of Dropbox and would recommend them. You indicated in your ticket that you aren't a fan of upgrading to Pro to use the File Manager. I think that paying a smaller amount for a file-sharing service may be a better option for you -- particularly if you get one that really does what you want. Some file-sharing services have to build secure apps on top of our platform for you to really get the right experience, but if we can find any advice here from other Network Creators, that would be great.
Have you tried the Doxtop app yet? That one might work for you, depending on whether you need to upload proprietary content or just create collaborative files on site.
I'm not sure I have a great answer for you w/r/t adding a wiki. We don't offer wiki functionality.
Also, I am sorry to say that the NC iPhone App may not be working as expected right now. We've reported the issue to our engineers, but we are awaiting a fix for that.
Permalink Reply by Dr Sea Rotmann on July 11, 2012 at 4:38pm Hi Eric, many thanks for investigating that and getting back to me so fast. Mayra told me that upgrading to PRO to get File Manager probably wouldn't be the right thing for what I want, and I am still a little unclear as to what File Manager actually does to be honest...
I like Dropbox too but couldn't find the app/widget for it, can you please point me to it? Good thing about Dropbox is that you people can open links to a public folder without having to sign up for Dropbox. I am still not sure how I can show a little 'file tree' of what has been uploaded onto the ning site (via discussion fora or groups) on the home page, or would File Manager let me do that?
Thanks for the feedback on the mobile App, maybe that should be noted on the App store? It's not a problem if it is being fixed and that is notified somewhere, but downloading it and it not working made me think it was an issue with my phone settings or something and I assume others are going to ask you the same dumb questions about it? :) Would be great if you could notify me when the issue is fixed, I really would like to use the mobile app when I'm on the road.
Cheers
