Can we thank Glam Media for this?

Permalink Reply by soaringeagle on November 25, 2012 at 6:15pm glam integration is a big part of it if you just look at the number of http requests related to glam the number of scripts and how inconsistent they are
a big parts the glam ads integration i think too
but cant be sure
ive shut off the beta glam ads completely but i think parts of it are still active code

Most of the time i see My Site with White Background + Vertical Navigation without proper CSS Alignment with change of browser it works else i have to clear my whole browser cache.
Permalink Reply by Design Faerie on November 24, 2012 at 4:06pm oh for pete's sake-switched browser to IE-which Ning said NO-don't use ever so many times---music players are now fine, folks on FF are also trouble free---Ning and Chrome are doing battle right now---<sigh>

Its Not a minor issue, Many of visitors leave site due to this Strange view in first expression..
Permalink Reply by M n M on November 25, 2012 at 6:56am My website also goes wonky and I was told clear my cache and all that fine stuff.
I was also told it was my code - so for the weekend I had cleared everything out of custom code and the custom stuff i added to css - guess what - it is still doing it and has all weekend.
I run a site that contains thousands of links which I check about every 6 weeks (Manually) and I never have this happen on any other website while I am checking those links with the exception of another ning network.
I don't buy the fact we are always told to clear our cache - nor to I now buy the fact it was some code or script that I added to my network as i stripped it to bare bones for a day and half.
When buttons dissapear and everthing is not alligned as should be people visiting for 1st time sure get a bad impression.
I just wish ning would take a serious look at all the complaints about this on here and fix it.
Maybe if everyone posted the comments on this in the same place it would help them to see how often it does happen and to how many
Don't get me wrong I love ning but I dislike how they pass the buck with the cache thing for almost every problem.
As stated above Its Not a minor issue
Permalink Reply by Cat on November 25, 2012 at 7:37am Scott's right, Just M. I am an old lady of 65 and chose against messing with CSS. My site runs without it and am still having the Chrome problems. I feel the slow down, may be a Glam/Ning attempt to cut down on high bandwidth usage because it's expensive. The disappearing graphics (like the Options and Add buttons) may also be that, but do NOT understand why clearing the Chrome cache would allow it to return, even intermittently, as it has been doing. Just M is correct that this is NOT A MINOR ISSUE!
Permalink Reply by doone on November 25, 2012 at 7:51am If you search for clearing cache chrome in Google Search you get 11 million hits, so maybe this is a bigger than Ning issue,
Wikipedia has some good cache clearing tips here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Bypass_your_cache
