Any ideas why it would all of a sudden go all crazy?

Permalink Reply by soaringeagle on November 25, 2012 at 5:19pm ok im a lil unsure of what people mean by behaving wonky so lets try to be a bit more specific as i too had noticed a bunch of odd behavior since the emergency meltdown ..but in firefox cause thats all i use and i did correct the 1 issue
so my specific issues were weird loading patters
the head wopuld load and pause just below the top ad...then the left side collumn losded till the 1st ad..and paused..then the next textbox started to load till the 1st ad..and paused
i did hours of troubleshooting then found that my ad codes that worked just fine before were causing trouble so a simplified version that sacrificed browser compatability=made the page load all at once as usual instead of the annoying start stop loading
next ive noticed slow loads caused by comscore (part of the glam integration)
multiple instincas of beacon.js being slow and
long wait times from the server before the 1st byte of html is loaded and slow loads from api.ning.com
ive noticed odd lil things that i think are a firefox bug like parts of my navigation vanish or break off and float untill u mouse over (where the real navigation is) (the last 2 versions of ff have had this issue )
but thats been going on longer then since tge meltdown
i didnt read every post but out iof the ones i read there was no precse explanations of what you saw happening so lets try to compile a list of te "wonky" behaviors you see on each site
oh i have had ni joins today at akll..none (altho i could join so i dunno) but had gottwn a couple reports of not being able to join (no matter the device or pc) or sign in with you need to enable cookies errors when they had coolkies enabled
chat was not working on members list page nor on posting a diwcussion pages
umm what else
oh yes
all bot activity stopped around 9 am this morning it averaged 3k an hour up till 9 am then suddenly no bot activity r=the entire rest of the day?
thats ...not normal
theres muotiple weirdnesses going on if we can try to gocument them all ..in detail it will help track it down

Permalink Reply by soaringeagle on November 25, 2012 at 6:11pm nio i said i didnt only 1st couple pages wich were all vague
Permalink Reply by Perrie Halpern on November 25, 2012 at 6:47pm OK for me it's long loading times and loosing all page formatting. Do a hard boot get back the formatting, but the loading time is still very long.
Chat room locks up for members. They post, but it doesn't take.
Noticed the same thing with the google bots.

Permalink Reply by soaringeagle on November 25, 2012 at 6:59pm the fact that theres been no bot activity since 9 akm is a serius issue but also should help to tracgk down the issue thnx
hmmm ok..severe server malfunctu[ion
lost pages after they restored it
then wonky behavior and finaly end of all bot activity?
id take a look 1st for some hacker injected malware ..its a long shot but the symptoms make me think its worth looking for
could be serever side cacheing issues..but no theres ben cookie issues as well..
maybe its just time for a new seerver?
the slow load times seem to be glam code to me ive been tracking that fir days its intermittent too
the chat wont open on certain pages for me
i wonder if theres new meta tags for compatability issues like there used to be in the forums section im gonna do more code hunting starting with why chat wont open in certain pages but wil in others
grr nevermind that issue was consistent b4 now its not and chat works fine on members list
how do you track down a phantom? its like the issues jump around put on costumes and take random breaks just to mess with your mind and make you think u imagined them
Permalink Reply by Nederlander on November 26, 2012 at 6:51am We are also experiencing a "wonky" experience over the last weeks.
Personally in Chrome (latest version without any add-ons):
Remedy so far: reload the page with F5 sometimes repeat F5 a second(!) time
My feeling is that this is not a NING-only problem, nor a cache-problem, although I do feel that NING could (temporarily) optimize code to help minimize the impact of this in various browsers. For instance perhaps disable some of the requests to 3rd-party servers such as Glam, scoreresearch, ...?
I hope things will improve soon. Many thanks to all who are looking into this issue!
PS: Menu-buttons often do not appear above an editable text-field

Permalink Reply by soaringeagle on November 26, 2012 at 6:57am not sure if this is only temporary or intermittent but my site seems fast and bug free at the momment anyone see any improvements today?
Permalink Reply by Atheist Universe on November 26, 2012 at 7:11am Nope.
Everything Ning is incredibly slow today.
My network, here, other Ning sites.

Permalink Reply by soaringeagle on November 26, 2012 at 7:30am well its still very slow for the 1st byte to get sent but after that its much faster then its been no 60+ second loads or anything
so its an improvement..on my site at least
Permalink Reply by Atheist Universe on November 26, 2012 at 7:07am An interesting hiccup?
Just now while browsing Ning Creators, a strange font-family effect in the right column:
...and I've only seen it on that page so far. This discussion here looks normal.
