New: Find out the date of each member last visit

We've heard a lot of requests for Network Creators to have more visibility into what their members are doing on your Ning Network. We've launched the Leaderboards feature and the new Dashboard to try to provide just this type of insight. 

However, there was a simple piece missing — knowing when the last time was that each member visited your Ning Network. We're happy to announce that ends today! 

Shortly, you'll be able to see a new column in your members spreadsheet that records the most recent activity (for instructions on how to export your list of members to a spreadsheet, read this document). Next to each member's name, you'll see the last date that they visited your Ning Network. This data is updated only once every 24 hours, so it could take up to a day to show a recently visited member's new date.

This isn't retroactive, so dates will only be displayed for members who visit from this point forward. The remainder will be blank. However, as weeks and months go by, this should provide you great insight into who's visiting, especially those members that are visiting without participating. It should also give you a new way to target inactive members and encourage them to come back.

We're exploring adding this date to profile pages as well, and we'd love your feedback on that.

I am not sure if this new column in the CSV would help ensure your email list is clean of bad addresses b/c people can still log in with a bad email address, they simpy are not receiving any notificatio s. To ensure that all emails are good, you would have to enable email verification upon signup.

Regarding adding "last login date" to profile page... I think it would be ok as long as networks were given the option to turn it off or on.

Nice feature, but it doesn't work for me. I mean it shows my last visit as 7/28/11 but I've been on 4 times today (7/31/11). The last person to post earlier today has nothing in the Last Visit column. I know of at least 2 other members who have been on in the last day and their Last Visit column is blank. ????

 

I would also like to see this on a member's profile.

This will be really useful thanks.  I would like to see this feature...anything that enables me to see who is using the network and who is not, especially as I have a lot of members (I think and hope~!) that come on but never comment -  so would be encouaging to get more info on this.

 

I have also long wanted to know who never comes on anymore.  Is there a way to take these people off your membership without having to suspend them as such?

I'm finding the same thing as Nancy Marsh said in her comment. 

It's not recording the last login date for members I know who were on over 24 hours ago. 

However, something occurred to me:

What if these members are "never" signed out?  Some of them comment so often, perhaps they logged in before Ning put this into place, so they are not being recorded because they haven't logged out, then logged back in?

Make sense?

Anyone from Ning Tech who can comment on this? Is this a possible reason? And if yes, is there a work around?
