We've been working hard on a brand-new version of your Ning Network's mobile interface. We're happy to say that we're now at a point where we are ready to put this in the Ning Labs section of your dashboard. You can turn it on and off if you want to try it out from there.
We still have some more work to do on this, and we'll keep posting in the Ning Beta Group as we make regular updates.

What's this all about?
If this is the first you've heard of this mobile improvement project, check out this discussion for a bit of the back story. It also covers a few FAQs that people have asked us over time.

what if anything should be added to the robots.txt to control crawling
im assumming /m/signin /m/password/reset
what else if those arent blocked from crawling the bots aill get lost in thousands of duplicate pages
but it will really be helpful if u give us recomended additons to robots.txt
and im still trying to figure out the right settings for my sitemap crawler aswell

Permalink Reply by Baller on June 20, 2012 at 9:25pm How do i add mobile ads? I just activated this but it's going to kill my ad numbers.

Permalink Reply by Writer Chick {Diane} on June 22, 2012 at 8:12pm Is this still in beta? I went to another Ning network and their mobile version looks totally different from mine. So, I went to "Mobile" under My Network and ordered my landing pages, saved, and nothing happens. My site still looks exactly as it did.
Does it take a while for this to take effect or is it instantaneous? Can someone check my site on their iPhone and see if it works for them and just not for me? Do admins see the mobile version or do they see the site just like it is on a regular computer? (cause that's what I see!)

Permalink Reply by soaringeagle on June 22, 2012 at 8:56pm is your site private i try to look at the mobile page (omn pc by typing m after url) and it asks me to sign in
its in beta u gotta go to beta activate it then set up the pages and save..then it will be active

I have Mobile Web enabled in My Ning labs, and have had since the beginning. I've also gone to the Mobile section and set up the pages and saved them.
I still see my network on my iPhone exactly as it looks on my laptop. When I type in the pc version (/m) on my laptop, I see it the way the mobile is supposed to look. So, why isn't it working on my iPhone??
Even if my site is Public/Main Page Only, shouldn't signed in members (including me) get that mobile version on our phones, too???
Oh, and I just typed in my site URL on my iPhone and added the /m to it and I see the mobile version fine. Does everyone have to type that /m or they don't see it???
I'm sooooooooooooooo confused.
Permalink Reply by Verna D on June 23, 2012 at 10:11am It doesn't automatically reroute to the m site on my iPad either

Permalink Reply by Writer Chick {Diane} on June 23, 2012 at 5:40pm Well, do I feel like a dumbo.
That worked wonderfully, Scott. Can you believe I never even thought of having to clear cache on my phone. So....can they get viruses, too? Just a scary thought, since I have no idea if iPhones have virus protection. (As you can tell, I'm a smart phone newbie. LOL)
