Hi All
We are constantly hit our heads against the wall with the Ning API and its restrictions.
Eg limiting the number of posts or users you can call.
Or limiting what you can post to your own network even with all the keys etc...
Anyone have any idea when we can expect an upgrade / version 2?
Anyone else frustrated?

For over a year, now, I expect some answers about APIs and their possible developments.
I think we can forget that there are APIs ...
Permalink Reply by Lee Rael on December 4, 2012 at 5:49am yes, any improvement would be great...
Im thinking of moving off Ning because their API is so bad.

This API is poor. It is a fact. But this is not the real problem: you have to start at one end when you release the first version of an API ... The real problem is that it's been almost 2 years that has not changed. To attract developers Ning would have to be reactive and shows, even in part, the "vision" they have, and where they want to go.
Currently, there is no vision, no updating or evolution, eratic support, and finally no desire to do things differently, I think :-(
Permalink Reply by Phil Sim on December 4, 2012 at 6:52am I hear you. We get constant feedback from our iPhone users that they really dislike the latest mobile site, so I stupidly suggested that we'd aim to get a native iPhone app up with a service like ShoutEm. Of course, then I look into it and find no API for Forum which is our most used module and seems to be likewise for many other sites. No API access to Forum and Events is just ridiculous.
