NING APPS THAT ACTUALLY WORK?

I've tried so many of the Apps provided by Ning, and always end up dismantling them, because none of them ever work properly, or as advertised, or they are dead or broken installations, or they do not integrate well with the site, or they are clunky, or they end up being backdoors for spam ads from third-parties, and there is absolutely no support for any of them that I've tried (just check out the plethora of complaints that go unnoticed in the app market's comments for each app).

Can anyone recommend or share which apps they might be using that do actually work, integrate well, and do something beneficial for your community?

It seems like such a waste of services being offered, so I would really like to try to use some of them that might work well.

I removed all these apps as soon as possible. Slow, out of date, not working etc..

To answer your question, I can not recommend one single app from that directory.

The whole section is littered with broken links and broken images. It's an awful mess.

Well, based on the fees we are paying for Ning, I hadn't considered these "free." They are a part of what is used to promote sales for Ning, so one would think they would tend to them and make sure they actually work.

precisely dude, youre absolutely right which I why I use alot of the ning apps, I figured im paying for a pro account you may as well utilize as much as possible, but Ive dismantled a lot of apps as well because they did not work! Now im having an issue with teh "small worlds" app as it does not use the full width of the page so literally half the app I cant even see! lol but wordpress works, uhhh...listings works as a craigslist for your site and the graphical sketchbook works, a few of them do but the actual really good ones that we'd all like to add DONT...huge blow for ning and the fact that their ning apps or atleast being represented that way is horrible for ning, FIX IT NING...IMMEDIATELY!

I'm using the member map which seems to be working ok to date. I even paid the $30 for premium because they wouldn't answer an email unless you were premium. Emailed them my query. That was 4 days ago. Still haven't heard back. Please don't tell me this breaks down as it is critical to what i do

As I've said before and at this recent discussion:

"Ning is clear that they are not responsible for the apps we use, they are the responsibility of the developers who created them. Since most of the developers do not update their apps and do not avail themselves to their users when there is a problem, Ning should get rid of every last one of them."

In that same discussion, Eric says Ning will be getting rid of these apps shortly.

Yeah, I think they just need to scrap them. What an embarrassment. I wish they actually worked. Some of them would have been really nice to use.

I wholeheartedly agree. There was one developer who was adamant about my using his a couple of years back, I even helped him test it out. Some weeks ago, I went to install his app on a network I admin, and there were problems, and naturally, I could not reach him.

They never really integrated correctly on my network ..and I found myself deleting all the app minutes after i download them
